As I was tearing up the highway in 4th gear this morning I got to thinking "It is so fun flying down the highway in 4th, grab a little throttle and fly." Turning around 6K R's, the power comes on. Yah. Third is great on windier roads.

So, what's your fav gear? Why?

Interesting thread; here in Utah my main type of riding is in these great canyons where some can be fairly easily ridden from 40-100 mph without too many problems if you stay well tuned in and concentrate. So that, for me means mostly 3rd gear. Not many shifts needed for a 50 or 60 mile ride. Occasionally I grab 2nd to accelerate quickly to fun speed, usually about 60-80 but hardly ever 4th, only to let the engine relax for a short time. RPM's usually run above 4500 and I see redline quite often on the straights. Great fun and it does keep the adrenalin pumping! Then its some super slab to return home. 5th & 6th @ 3500 and cruise. Time to relax some. I'm still lovin' it and impatiently waiting for this stupid snow to melt. I do not ski.
