I know that I've seen at least one person on here post a picture of a pelican (or pelican style) hardcase mounted to their rearseat (well, the base anyway) I have a spare rear seat for my 1125R and want to do this I want to carry my bookbag in it to school, and then store my jacket/pants in it during classes. So it needs to be lockable and waterproof. Any help on this would really, well, help Hopefully the people who've done this can chime in I posted a longer post in the quick board, but didn't want to retype all of that |

Mounting any kind of woman with a hardcase on the back of your bike may be high risk. This pelican style sounds kinky, and you want her to store your riding gear..sounds like someone may run off with her and your stuff if you not careful! just get yourself a harley, and then you wouldn't have to have all this gear to store! |

1125 - I would if I could afford it. Or an Uly. But until I can afford a fourth bike, i'll have to make due with what I have |

Find the case that will hold all your gear, then "imagine" it on the seat pan. Bolting the case sould be all that hard. But take in account how much everything will cost compared to just buying a actuall rear top case. Hope this gives you some ideas. |

its super easy just look at the base of the top case and the seat. use the holes in the base as a guide and drill through the seat, keeping in mind to stay away from any hard parts in the subframe. |

JP's has a bunch of options. I tried my hand at it with a case I had in the garage. The experiment worked but the case was waaay too big. Make sure whatever you mount is far enough back on the seat-pan so your butt has room.

Frinzo - im looking at/for used pelican cases, so they wont be too costly. And I think that if I bought a 'real' topcase that it would cost more plus need a specialized mounting system. Zac youre the one that I saw it on, now that I see the bike I know it was yours Cheesm thanks for advice I might be hitting you both up soon for advice/tips Do either of you have pictures of your seat/seat base and how you attached everything? I really just need one big enough for my bookbag and to put my jacket in during the day. I found a pelican on CL for 40 bucks, but I am not sure if it's big enough, will be measuring my bookbag today |

but its really going to depend on which top case you use and what the base looks like. you're going to have to line up the holes on the base of the top case with the seat. |

I mounted mine directly to the seat. No quick-detach bracket like Chessm. Figured it was plenty big enough to toss the real seat in, if I wanted to carry the box inside.. No pix handy, I'll look. Z |

Here is mine and I made my own bracket so I can take the seat off and use the case or vise versa and still use the key to lock it in place and I have a back rest....lmao. |

The case I got off an old Honda 350cl. It also has a lock on it. I have side cases to match for long trips. |

So I found a pelican used locally for 40 bucks, but it was a little smaller than I was wanting. Still considering it, but not quite as big as I prefer but then I found out about this company http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-Bolton-Tools-Inches- Pluck/dp/B00794EJ1G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361063 992&sr=8-1&keywords=bolton+case Bolton Tools and Hardware I've read some really good reviews of their cases And this large case will be as big as I need for 74$ shipped So I might pick one up in the next week or so I was also considering some sort of rack on top too, to strap down something like a tent/sleeping bag if I do another trip like the WV Buell rally etc Just worry about water leaking down from top. But yeah, Im still wanting to pursue this idea so I can ride to school and lock up my coat/pants(rain suit) during the day |

bummed. measured my regular bookbag (a camelbak urban assault xl), and the case I linked above wont work I have a North Face Jester that'd work, but I hate having to use an inferior bag just cause I want to ride. But it might be my only option |
