I have just recieved my stator back from custom rewind and re installed it in my 1125R went to fire it up and it fired right away then quit, got it refired and it idled fine but when I gave it throttle the intstrument panel and lights flickerd rapidly and its not running properly. Could it be the voltage regulator should I replace that as well? I am at a loss here folks any suggestions would help and a link to a new regulator would be apprieciated!!!! |

a) with the engine OFF if you have a multimeter - set it to Ohms - check to see if one of the windings is shorted to ground...1) one lead from the ohm meter to one lead in the big grey connector with the yellow wires and the other lead from the meter to the chassis ground. 2) check all three yellow wires coming FROM the stator - all three wires should read infinity ohms - that is, NO connection between the yellow wires and ground....if there is a connection (a Ohm reading) - re-check your install for any nicked or broken insulation. b) with the grey connector dis-connected - start the engine and let it idle - set the meter to AC voltage and check each "pair" of yellow wires - you should see AC voltage 20-30 VAC - as you rev the engine (not too high)the voltage will increase. c) if it passes the two "tests" above AND you have a fully charged battery - start the engine again and test for DC voltage at the battery posts - should be greater than 12VDC and less than 14.5VDC- if not - could be the VR. The CompuFire brand of Voltage regulators have become the replacement standard for 1125...link below: ( P/N 55402) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0035U7LRM/ref=oh _details_o00_s00_i00 heck of a way to spend Christmas eve...Happy Holidays |
