Thinking of picking up an extra set of radiator shrouds to reuse the front intake portions for new fiberglass fairings I picked up. I'm planning this approach so I don't have to separate the pieces from my stock parts. The used parts typically have road rash and I was wondering if anyone has attempted to resurface the front ABS (I assume it's ABS) portion of the pods? |

Pretty sure the body plastic is Surlyn. It works nicely, sands well especially when wet-sanding. The inlet piece is hard to texture-match, I used coarse sandpaper and tiny swirls and wire-brush, looks OK. The glossy surface isn't too hard, just time-heavy. Gotta make small increases to grit to get all the scratches out. Best bet for both is a flat black, textured is the best type. I would think a flexible paint, specifically for plastics would be good, but no experience personally. I have used high-temp BBQ flat black on the mufflers of my Uly and 1125R with success. I also used black Tool-Dip spray on the chin spoiler of my Uly. Zack |

Ya, I'm only considering the inlet piece as I will retain the pristine pod plastics and fiber covers. Just looking to possibly use a set of eBay inlets if they are recoverable. |

had the same problem, took some scratched old ones, sanded and put some filler on and repaint them with satin-matte-black-paint. good as new. put them on my self made carbon fiber pods.

When you say filler are you talking bondo or a plastic compound like Plastex/Plastifix? |

i can't remember the name of the product, but it was a filler for automotive purpose (2 components, fast drying) which you can sand easily (wet and dry). you can get it in diy-shops. |
