Can someone get me the spec for the front fork leg pinch bolts? I know they are M8x1.25, but I don't know the length. Thanks! |

For the front axle... likely the same spec, honestly. |

Wait a minute -- the OEM bolts didn't go all the way through. Since I'm no where near my bike, can you get a measurement of how "thick" the fork leg is? For example, if I put a bolt through it and tightened to spec, how long would the threaded area need to be to be flush with both sides of the axle clamp? I'm working through designing a quick-change for the front, and cam-action pinch bolts are part of the design. But I'm no where near my bike to take measurements. Grrr. |

The fork is 1 5/8 inches thick at the fully torqued pinch bolt. The fork is threaded all the way through the back side. The head of the bolt is recessed in a 1/2 inch hole with 3/16 inch exposed above the hole. |

Jim The numbers I gave you are the same for all the triple bolts. They clamp the main pivot and the outer tubes top/bottom. Books are at work, but the axle pinch bolts are 6-1.25x30 IIRC, but could be 35... The axle pinch were A08035.CVXB or something, I'll post in the morning when I get to the shop. Zack |

PM -- thanks. Maybe I didn't express it right. What length of bolt would I need to be at torque spec and be flush with the back of the fork leg? You could get this number by pulling one of the axle pinch bolts and pushing a drop gauge caliper in the hole until it's touching your finger held on the open hole on the back side and flush with the recess for the socket cap at the front. In mm, please Thanks! |

OK. Here is what I got. I removed the outermost pinch bolt. I measured with my caliper. I got 38mm from flush on the back side to the flat for the bolt head on the front side. I took my 38mm measurement as close to center as I could get. The forks are not square at the bolt holes. The forks angle slightly with a peak between the pinch bolt holes. The recess the bolt head sits in measures 3mm on the outer edge, and 4mm on the inner edge. Top to bottom would be 3.5 top and bottom. The forks are straight up and down. I measured the gap that pinches when you tighten the bolts. I only loosened the outer pinch bolt. With one pinch bolt loose, it measured .45mm. With it torqued to spec, it measured .15mm. Hope this helps. |
