I dug into my new bike more today and found something interesting. Some genious wired a smartphone charger into a grey plug just under the headlight assembly. Its gone now but Im curious what that grey connector is for. It looks like it is from the factory. Anybody know? |

That sounds like the accessory plug. It is under the headlights. It was intended for factory heated grips. It is actually the correct wiring to use for accessories. These wires are only on when the charging system is actually charging. You won't drag down your electrical system using this jack. If the charging system becomes overloaded, the system turns off that plug to save itself. I run a GPS on mine. The jack does not come on immediately when I start the bike. It takes a few seconds. If I idle too long with high beams on, the jack turns off until I rev the engine. I am riding an '08 with the lower output charging system. |
