I just bought me a 2008 1125R. Previously, I owned a 2004 XB12 S/R that I loved!! Im am pretty excited about the 1125. However, I am not sure what parts/mods the previous owner has done. What I am sure is that it has a K&N and a HMF slip-on. Currently, the bike does have a surging issue a low RPM with little throttle. Are there any mods that you guys have done that make the bike run better? Im not looking for more speed, yet. I just want a smooth running Buell. Thanks for any help! |

Remove the left pod cover and see if the ECM is factory. If it has "race use only" engraved on it then you know its an EBR item. Doubtful if you are mentioning surging issues. You might still get a slight amount of surging with the race ECM. Remove the intake solenoid setup and get the error code defeating plug from EBR as well. It will free up your throttle actuation and keep the solenoid from putting a dent in your fun times. |

What if I return it to stock? Would it ride smooth then? |

not necessarily. Stock tune was known to have the surge issue. There were several updates that are supposed to help. Not sure how to tell which you have on your ECM now, but someone will know and can tell you if you are current maybe? I know HD can do that, but probably want your first born... $$ as usual. If you already have the K&N and HMF, i'd get the EBR Race ECM and call it good. Probably the best money you can spend. Smoother and cooler running plus a HP or two i believe w/ the EBR. welcome and GL! |

My Loretta is a very early 08 "R". The last OEM map I got was pretty smooth, especially in contrast with the early ones. The EBR ECM is definitely the good/easy way to a good runner. Make sure the "Idle Air Solenoid" has been disconnected and the throttle butterflies tied together. Definitely check under your left pod to see what ECM you have before you drop 300 bucks tho. I have K&N, EBR ECM and a Drummer and I can idle on flat ground in 1st and 2nd. Nice for tight residential areas and school zones... Not a lot of torque down there, but OK for light traffic. This motor is happiest when you are wringing its neck. Enjoy Zack |

Well it has a race ECM already. It also idles as about 1600rpm which seems to be a little high |

I bought my '09 with 9 miles on it, it's idled at about 1500 since new. Drives me nuts because the owners manual says 1250 for idle, but that's just my ocd. |
