Wow! And I've been filling up unnecessarily for the last 3 years! Has anyone actually ran their 1125r dry? Does it begin to misfire and gently tug back and forth or is it a more violent experience? |

I have run mine dry. It just stalled out on the highway and I was able to coast to the shoulder. I was able to restart it once and go a mile or so and then coast almost to the gas station. I experienced no rear wheel lock up or anything out of control. I got the low fuel light and made it less than 5 miles before it quit. It also was in the 40's so not your warmest riding day. |

yep! been empty starts to sputter and pop. if you sit on it and lean it over to the right for a few to 30 seconds you can get enough to fire back over and ride the last block to the gas station. mileage was crap that tank cause I was having fun! |

Has anyone actually ran their 1125r dry? Not intentionally, but unfortunately yes. Does it begin to misfire and gently tug back and forth or is it a more violent experience? No drama for me, other than me thinking WTF did you just stop, without any CEL or anything. Gotta love the issues H-D ignores... 1313 |

In all fairness, they did fix this one. |

In the UK HD head office deny all knowledge of a low fuel light issue in the cold, my light has been on for over a week now the temperatures are falling, anyone ever try the variable resistor fix that has been talked about? |

ive run mine dry numerous times over the years. nowadays i just rely on my trip odometer to decide when its time to fill, as i always know how far i can go on a tank. my bike just recently went from intermittent on/off of the low fuel light, to where it stays on most of the time... this was the highest its made it before clicking off (which happened today shortly after 450 miles) |

I tried the variable resistor thing. I emptied the fuel tank and tried to get the resistor to initiate a working LFL when it was actually out of fuel. Instead got a Failing Low error code even when adjusting the resistor to approx 100 ohms which still did not produce a LFL. So I guess it needs a good working thermistor and not a kludge? |

Sparky, Thanks for the attempt at a fix and the info. |

I ran mine dry a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it was on the dragstrip during eliminations and I had the guy by a holeshot. Mid-track it started jerking and I knew. i knew I'd not put quite enough in the tank for three passes (total of 3 miles once you count the shut down, return road etc) Sucks, I lost that class, but learned my lesson not to try to cut it close again. |

Dry, yup. When my low fuel light comes on it means GET GAS NOW. I pay pretty close attention to the trip odometer so as not to have the light come on in BFE because you are F..... if that case. |
