So why is it that our precious bikes are worth the price of a moped? I have a very hard time trying to see the rationality. I was looking at selling mine because of health reasons. I stopped after this offer of $3,200 |

It's probably still largely an effect of the Buell closure "fire sale". In October 2009, you could buy a new 2008 1125R for around $4000 and I imagine a lot of people still remember that. Something else you can thank the mothership for. |

KBB and NADA both value the bike around $5700-$6000. I didn't pay anywhere near that... It did take some low balling, but I picked mine up for less than some 10 year old xb9's were listed for. Now I'm going to ride it until the wheels fall off. xb9... please. Take one of these babies over seas I bet you will get top dollar. |

no you won't, they are priced very low over here too. no one wants them at the moment, i just paid more for a 12 year old sp1 than what my 1125 is currently worth |

Least that means it's less likely they will be stolen. lol |

Have you tried to sell an equivalent Japanese sportbike? You get the same low ball pricing. Sportbikes are not that popular to sell at high prices because buyers for them are few and far between, and have little $$ to spend because they will be young. The older riders who do have the $$ want the Adventure Tourers and Cruisers. Selling a motorcycle to help pay for bills is usually a losing situation no matter what brand or type of bike it is. |

It being a "dead" manufacturer - maybe causes some hesitation to buy one when parts become scarce in a few more years? just a guess and thinking out loud. While it's a bummer to see such a great machine valued so lowly (on par w/ a scooter - damn!), it just makes me more committed to keep this one going until it's really falling apart. HD committed to 7 or 9 years right? when you need a new (insert part here)... besides the few parts EBR carries that are compatible - what do we do? used online (ebay, classifieds here and elsewhere). Some things obviously will be pretty easy if EBR's parts are a swap, but let's say the triple gets tweaked - besides the EBR skeleton triple - getting a *new* triple from HD won't be possible - right? Just think that may be part of it besides the firesale price a few of us were able to jump on to get this amazing bike! |

I sold my 07 XB9 for $3900 earlier this year but it was to an older motorcycle collector. When trying to sell Buells you have to be patient. I had posting for my bike on about 10 different sites. I bought my CR for $5900 in April. |

Don't forget man made the bike so man will be able to make replacement parts things like triple trees as you guys call them will be very easy to get made ........... just for info it was easier to get the parts to repair my CR after having a rear end shunt than it is to get a front fairing for my sons TZR50 Yamaha moped (waiting a month already and still no sign of it) |

I am not trying to sell to pay for bills. I have a heart condition that hinders me from riding. I still ride, but take extra precautions. This bike is my one and only "relief" in life from the pain I feel everyday and it just kills me to think about ending my riding so soon in life. |

Check out this ad. Someone has been trying to sell this bike for probably a year now, lots of goodies. I think it comes with a story too about how shawn higbee raced it. You just cant ride it on the street http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/3357484241. html Depressing |

Its depressing if your the seller.... I hope to pick up a bike for the track in the future... next year.... and of course I plan on a Buell and I couldn't be happier ...but I don't plan to sell any of my Buells.... At the price there selling for I have no incentive but I have never wanted to either.... I don't feel motorcycles are really a investment and therefore are a expense to a degree but overall they are simply a JOY... they put a smile on my face and excitement in my veins.... Don't get me wrong, the people that paid full retail have to be disheartened and perhaps rightfully so ... but its a motorcycle not gold or silver.... it is and always will be a means of transportation and a luxury... don't fool yourself... we are all blessed to have owned or own one in my opinion. enough ranting.... ride on |

Even before the closing of the factory and the fire sale, Buell has always had terrible resale values. In 2008, I picked up a 2006 Lightning for $4000 In 2009 I picked up a 2003 Blast for $1500 In 2012 I picked up a 2008 XB12XT Ulysses for $5000. Based on what I've seen over the years, the 1125R/CR are holding their resale value the best of all the modern Buells. This is great for buyers, but not so great for sellers. |

I agree, motorcycle are not really an investment unless its an mv or a norton or whatever. We buy them for recreation, commuting, or racing; the best the average owner can hope for when selling is to recoup a percentage of what they have in it, not "make money" on it. I have sold one of my bikes this year - a 2002 cb919 that I bought for $3000 I sold for $3300 but had put $ into a race ECM, tuning, full boz bros exhaust, and had the swing arm and engine case powder coated so I had a lot more than that $300 in it. It's a hobby. |

Redbuell, just keep posting your bike on CL every couple of weeks. If it's "reasonably" priced, it'll sell eventually. |

The bike that was shown is not mine, but looks to be in nice shape. I however am complete stock except for having a D&D exhaust. I have been to many father and sons events like bike shows with my father. So I may just end up having it around the garage just to go and spend another day with my "Pops". I am about an hour south of Chicago. |
