Coming home today I noticed the cooling fans wouldn't turn on. Stuck in traffic after work they were fine. Stopped at the gym. Started bike and rode home on the freeway 2 hours later. Got off the freeway and they wouldn't turn on. Turned off the bike when temp got to 215. I did a valve adjustment about 800 miles ago. Maybe a wire got pulled or disconnected? Bike has 26k miles now. First real issue. I have the EBR race ECM. Can someone hold my hand through checking everything possible in a logical order? THANKS!!! |

If fuse is good then it most likely is a wire pulled somewhere. |

I have a volt meter and will attempt to start fiddleing in a few hours. Are these run through my racing ECM? Relay? No relay? Thanks! Side question. I think the temp light comes on at 230. What temp does damage happen on these? |

Fans are ECM controlled. fan logic has 2 or 3 speeds, fans run independently. Fans have their own fuse, no relay. Z <edit> ECM varies ground, +12 is direct from fuse block. (Message edited by zac4mac on October 20, 2012) |

Thanks. Do you know how to check if the ECM is controlling them correctly? What does +12 is direct from fuse block mean? (Message edited by theAmazingKickstand on October 20, 2012) |

I mean, with the exception of a connector or two, nothing is between the fans and the fuse to 12v. You should be able to ground the fans and see them run, as they should always have +12 on the yellow-brown wire. They're just waiting for a ground to run. If you ground the wrong wire, you'll pop the fuse. Z |

Thanks! OK so I took all the bodywork off and jiggled everything and now they work fine. Problem Is I don't know what I jiggled back into place. |

I've heard that if it's running normally, it's not hot enough to cause damage. The ecm goes into a skip spark routine to control overheating. I don't know if it is true. |
