My 08 really was pretty flawless, other than an occasional stalling issue. 12,500 miles before I totalled her The 09 had 5k, and I've had to do a new battery, EBR stator mod (still need to wait for warm weather to see if the stator is going to make it) and now I'm up at Deals Gap for a great weekend with the guys and the front fork seal let go. Ugh I once bought a new in the box 1979 CB650 that sat for 3 years, like this 2009 1125R has, and it's fork seals blew pretty quick, so I'm pretty sure that's the cause. Just so disappointing to ruin my weekend before it started. I rode for a bit, but with all the oil on the front tire and rotor I'm lucky I didn't kill myself. Naturually there are no parts available anywhere around. |

How long will you be there? I have everything required to rebuild the front forks. I could overnight them. Do you have the tools? |

Did you try the trick of slipping a thin piece of plastic up behind the fork seal and working it around? Sometimes a piece of dirt or debris will get caught in the seal and cause it to leak. Carefully pry out the outer dust seal and slide it out of the way, then take something like a piece of film or other thing plastic and work it up past the seal. Slide it all the way around the fork tube and then pull it out. Wipe everything off thoroughly, slip the dust seal back up and press into place. Pump the forks a few times to re-seat the seal, wipe again, pump some more and check for a leak. You may luck out and fix it. You can actually buy a widget for this purpose, the "Sealmate" from Motion Pro: https://www.denniskirk.com/149121.sku?utm_source=s hopping&utm_medium=cse7Ivq_rICFUWo4AodNnYAFA&segme nt=badger} This might work a little better than whatever piece of plastic you can scrounge up. Good luck! |

Heading out tomorrow, so my weekend was done on Friday, but thanks, Took it to a shop, Wheeliers, and they said it was too far gone for any of the cleaning type of tricks (Message edited by sprintst on October 13, 2012) |

btw, seals are universal. Find the number and buy better at any bearing/seal shop. Forks are common on Ducati and other bikes so specialty shops are available at a lot lower rates than HD, even if you leave the tubes on. After all that, sorry about your ride. |

The HD seals are only $3.80 per, where other places are $20 to $30 plus a set. Whos' got the good stuff? |

Well they were pretty easy to disassemble with the Traxxion fork service kit http://www.traxxion.com/ForkServiceToolKit.aspx Since no answers, just ordered the Harley parts. Fraction of the price of what I'm finding elsewhere, so........got an extra set and can always tear it down again |
