Add some insulation to the inside of your frame and get rid of the stock tune. Mine is cooler than any japs I've had. I can't even touch the frame on my Honda and that's after adding insulation to the inside. | ||

I wonder if there will be some overseas dealers? I'm still not regretting selling my 1125R but as a lifelong fan of Erik's projects I'd be seriously tempted by the adventure bike. The Victory Vegas I bought to replace the 1125 is "nice" but I missed the performance so i just picked up a low mileage B-King covered in Carbon Fibre - that's stupidly fast but doesn't have the charector of the Buell. As was said before, a Uly with a 1190 motor in would be a serious contendor.. | ||

i see independent/multi-brand dealerships and/or boutique dealers picking up the EBR brand. it has been a long slow process and i am willing to bet that the network is nearly done. as court has mentioned there are trainloads of paperwork and legal requirements for each state that must be complied with prior to the first unit being sold in that state...there are 50 states plus canada to deal with and i would be willing to put money down that there will be a nationwide or nearly nationwide roll out with much fanfare etc next year. that's just my guess. | ||

The 1190 is a lot easier to work on than the 1125 as long as you are not inside the motor. Frame removal is a snap. | ||

Good to know, Rodrob! The 1125 didn't win any points for ease of maintenance... i see independent/multi-brand dealerships and/or boutique dealers picking up the EBR brand. Agree. There was a dealership in Albuquerque that would have been perfect - PJ's sold Ducati, Triumph, and Husqvarna. EBR would have fit right into that blend, and the guys at the dealership *loved riding* - they were obviously trying to sell people motorcycles, but they really cared about getting the right motorcycle to you, even if it wasn't the most expensive one. I wonder if Santa Fe Harley/Buell would be able to sell them - they were a bunch of awesome motorcyclists who happened to sell Harleys, and did everything they could to keep Buells on the showroom floor (plus a good number of the sales staff rode Buells). Either way, I'm excited.  | ||

Motorcycle racing is just a pointless hobby that has nothing to do with sales. Those Japanese manufacturers sold all those 600s and 1000s for street use... because... um... they were good street bikes! Clearly! Racing had NOTHING to do with it! Nobody wants a sportbike anyway. Concur with Jdugger, the 1125R is fairly easy to work on. There seem to be far less pieces than any other bike I've had. The most difficult maintenance item is the valves of course, and even that wasn't all that bad to do myself. | ||

i hope they will build a pure metric bike in the future...it's a pita to work on the 1125 the mixup of tools needed is just ridiculous. for us europeans it's a hassle to get the us-bolt-sizes and the dealers are just ripping us off with that shit. and when i compare it to a suzuki gsx-r, my buells (3) are just a joke. | ||

Cherry I don't follow iirc there is only one 'standard' fastener and it'd be a dealer only anyways. everything else is either metric or torx. | ||

Hopefully "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" is still alive and well! It isn't. Certainly on a global scale anyway. I can't speak for the US market, but the rest of the world is on its backside in terms of sportbike sales, and racing certainly isn't doing anything to solve that. 600 and litre sportsbike sales are through the floor right now, and the Japanese aren't even really updating their Supersport models much (other than kawasaki who are making their ZX6 636cc again) other than new colours for next year. Manufacturers now need to try and convince the bike buying public that they can provide bikes that are economical, easy to use and still fun. BMW can do it so there is no excuse for the rest. I know the Honda CC700 has been much maligned, but that is the direction that bike builders need to go in order to attract new riders, not 200mph sportsbikes that cost a fortune to buy and own  | ||

8-32, 10-32, 10-24, 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16; all screws listed in back of 08 1125R Parts book. There are a few SAE fasteners, still 90%(WAG) is metric... Z (Message edited by zac4mac on September 25, 2012) | ||

Zach, I'm curious, where are those SAE fasteners? The 5/16-18 and 3/8-16 are almost all because of the wheels from the XB, plus passenger pegs and front caliper. The #10-32 are windshield/well nut screws. Where are the rest of them? | ||

I will admit to hating "mixed" vehicles with regards to fasteners. Most of my toolbox is metric, since that's what I've owned in the past. | ||

The axle removal tool is essentially a 7/8" allen head. That's the only SAE fastener I've found. No doubt there are others, since there are lots of things I haven't messed with. | ||

Jim, you really gonna make me dig thru the Parts book? I just looked in the back at the "Fastener list". it does tell where the parts are, the page in the book... Just another good reason to get the Parts book. I thought for almost a year that the only SAE was the bolt for the rear exhaust plastic heat shield and the passenger peg bracket. | ||

Funny...You guys are willing to debate ratio of metric to standard fasteners? Who has that kind of time?!?!? I love this site! Most everything is metric, so assume metric and if it is slightly too small or too large, go to the comparable SAE size. Simple! | ||

I imagine it's considerably harder to find a standard fastener or wrench in Europe than it is to find a metric one in the U.S., so the perspective of international Badwebbers on this issue is understandably a little different from U.S. Badwebbers. | ||

I have often wondered why some people insist SAE fractional sizes. Not so much in wrenches and sockets, that is simple. I mean in nonsense fractions like 73/124ths HUH???? Decimal is fine 1.25, 1.680, etc. Metric is inherently the same. Besides, if that 9/16 wrench is a fuzz loose, the 14mm will fit better, 7/16-11mm, 1/2-13mm. I keep complete sets of both kinds, and my torque wrenches are dual scale in NM and Ft#. I even have a handful of wrenches from the 1800's when machinists made their own sizes. | ||
