This may have been discussed before, but the search function returned nothing. How do you remove the oil cooler oil lines? The manual shows a type of clip to spread, then the line pulls off. My HD dealer said the tool is way over priced and only available to dealers. I think he said $120. (No way!) There must be a cheaper way to remove these. I need to replace the stator and rotor. |

The clips can be removed via a thin screwdriver or scribe. Find the ends of the clips (look carefully, as the bends on the clips may look like the ends) and push them up and away from the channel to remove. Then the oil line pulls straight away from the fitting. |

What Puddlepirate said. A flathead screwdriver works fine, just get under the end of the clip, pop it out of the notch, and the pin pulls off. Pop the pins back on once you remove the oil lines, so you don't lose them. You do NOT have to pull them back off again to reinstall the oil lines - just push them back into the fitting and they snap right into place. |

Baf thanks for the tip on being able to reinstall the oil lines with the clips already in. I didn't know that. That would definitely make losing them a lot harder. :-) |

No problem! Someone (forgot who) posted that a while back on here and it worked out great for me, so I can't take all the credit. |

Those clips are used on many GM transmission lines. They are easily found at parts stores. I used to go through them by the dozens when I was managing lube shops (we would replace them every time). At first they're a bit of a pain, but after you've done one or two they're fast and simple. |
