Slowly getting parts together for upgrades. I haven't installed anything yet, but have the parts for clip ons from EBR. Reading on others experience keeping the stock clutch, was looking at upgrading it as well. (in for a penny... pretty committed at this point.) Have a Brembo 19RCS brake master now, EBR skeleton triple, and Vortex clipons. Read about the hastles using stock clutch MC here. Sooooo that got me looking for a 16RCS clutch. I emailed Kurveygirl and got a response recommending the 19RCS clutch...
quote:First, in the past some of our Buell 1125R customers found the performance of the 16RCS clutch to be below their expectations. We found that the 19RCS clutch is a better option as the Buell’s clutch is heavier than a standard Japanese clutch. We also double checked with the North American racing distributor for Brembo, and they also confirmed that the 19RCS clutch is their recommendation for the 1125R. We do not normally stock the 19RCS Clutch, but we have checked and they are in stock at the North American racing distributor for Brembo. It would take about 4 business days to order the master cylinder and then ship it out to you.
Just to be clear - they have the 16RCS clutch in stock for the same price, so don't think they are trying to sell me something more expensive... Would one of you radial guru's explain if this is accurate? larger bore 19 vs 16, and same adjustable throw (20 or 18). So the larger bore 19mm would be easier or harder to pull in when shifting? I don't think i've ever had a radial MC, so just out of my depth and looking for the groups guidance. Thanks for the help! (Message edited by sl33py on September 07, 2012) |

I've had both. Pass on the 16 and get the 19. The 16 doesn't move enough fluid. Even with the 19, you need to bleed the clutch REALLY well and you will probably have to have the lever pretty far out, but it does work well, and the feel is good. |

I had the same experience as Jdugger, 19RCS is the correct solution. 16RCS WILL NOT fully disengage the clutch |

Thanks everyone! 19RCS it is. Odd that the Accossato EBR sells is the 16x18 for the clutch: http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/parts-accesso ries/brakes/accossato-radial-front-master-cylinder -204.html Oh well - not worth bugging Danny. Skntpig - LOL. I have looked at the 19 vs 16 discussions online. I understand the mechanical differences in bore and distance (18 and 20 options on RCS). I enjoyed the LMGTFY though - an old favorite of mine. Sorry to ask a noob'ish question. However even your OPP link didn't answer my main question - (specific to our bike or the 1125) will the 19RCS clutch have reduced or increased pull pressure to engage/disengage the clutch? Kinda a moot point as i'm getting it and will find out myself eventually, but curious. I'll get it ordered and hope to get all the parts for swapping these in soon! need to swap fluids this fall anyway! thanks again! rob |
