09 and later have electrical issues that were addressed with an inline harness between the stator and voltage regulator. the ecm runs it. |

Yeah, there's only 6,857 postings. And after you read all of them you'll have a PhD in electrical quantum physics and no clear answer to your question. You have an '08 it appears, so no worrys. (Message edited by duphuckincati on September 02, 2012) |

I think I would leave it in unless it won't charge enough. As the bike heats up the fix shuts a leg down and it really doesn't charge enough in traffic you will kill your battery. If the light keeps coming on and you have already changed the relay it's time for the upgraded rotor it's the only way to keep the stator cool and charging for heavy traffic use. |

I decided on quality over quantity and disconnected mine 10K miles? ago. No worries with almost 19Kmiles and no more battery lights in traffic. I expect to buy the ebr rotor and rebuild stator sooner or later. Disconnect video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBYEYGJfyBw&feature =youtu.be |

In my opinion if you have it and dont have issues leave it alone an dif you dont have it and dont have issues leave it alone.... |

what I have learned following the stator threads; if you are using the harness, the relay is a POS, burns out way too easily and therefore needs to be closely monitored. oops, another reason for a disconnect! |
