OK, that stock license plate mount is truly hideous! I handled it for a few weeks, but finally today I just couldn't take it anymore! Made up a mount out of aluminum, pretty happy with how it turned out! Used the stock rubber grommets for the turn signal wires, turned out pretty clean. Let me know whatcha think, good or bad. thanks Sky |

Paint would definitely help it blend in better. Looks good! |

Paint schmaint... polish it
I made this in early 2008, I felt the same as you about the OEM tail. I also got an integrated run-stop/turn LED taillight from XBLights.

Tilt it back some. Looks like you may have tire interference on big bumps if you're not careful. |

It will definitely be painted black, I just finished it up late last night. I did think about tilting the plate a little more. But I didn't want to get hassled by police for lack of visibility. I like the idea of the integrated turn signals. I had that on my old ZX6R 636, I'd like to do it again. I also took off the belt covers and the passenger pegs, really just tried to clean up the rear of the bike a bit, it was looking so clunky. thanks for the comments guys. |

Looks like good craftsmanship--but I'd tilt it back too... |
