Need some input / direction

Noticed a clanging noise coming from the front sprocket

-- sounds like a wrench hitting metal .... took front drive off and started bike again to see if the noise changed. Noise was reduced but when given gas the noise returned just not as noticeable. appears being under load makes it more of a problem. noise disappears at high rpm.

drained and strained oil .. no metal shavings

removed clutch cover -- not sure if the part i am pointing out on the video is normal .

my guess .... bearing of some sort ???

Investigate the rotor nut under the ignition cover. Might be coming loose

Xboot -
You have an '08(so do I) and until mid '09, BMC used Loctite 648(green) and 250 ft-lbs on the rotor nut.
New and proper numbers are Loctite 271(Red Hi-Temp), torque to 210 ft-lb, back off 720 degrees(2 turns) then torque to 295 ft-lb.

As long as you have the cover off... at least pull the nut, clean it and add some 271-Red and 300 ft-lb.
It's highly recommended to get a new nut but it seems it's OK for a try or two.
Both times I've asked "tech@ebracing.com" i've been told "get a new one".
Several guys have been told by someone at EBR they're OK for 2 or 3 times, but replace soon...YMMV

BTW, I got a half dozen 6 X 80 or 90 bolts, cut off the heads and sharpened on my lathe.
You could do the same thing with a drill and a coarse-then-single-cut-file.
"Assembly Studs" make off and on easier to deal with the magnets in the rotor.

Be VERY careful around the rotor, the magnets are STRONG!!!

Check for the exhaust bolt being loose behind the front sprocket.

Yeah if only it were something simple ... putting it back together and having someone with some expertise look at it. An automotive stethoscope might get me closer .. the ear to my screwdriver didnt help lol

Will keep updating

update .... non Buell dealership .. head mechanic took a look and couldnt find anything wrong .. he took her out for a spin and believes the engine is fighting the cush drive and is normal ... the noise goes away at speed ... I should have them take it as a trade then lol he said it reminds him of a broken tooth on a gear but doesnt act like it when ridden ... next step .. cracking her wide open ..

I'd say rotor nut,the nut doesn't actually have to be loose for the noise to be an issue.
just done mine, the nut was rock solid, but much quieter after being redone.

Re use the nut, just clean all the loctite off.IMO the green loctite and 250ftlb can't be distorting the nut as intended. Once cleaned they will run on the threads like a new one.
Zac it's def 272 hitemp red-thixotropic.

Also check to see if your left rear muffler bolt has backed off and rattling against the belt tensioner. Don't have the service manual in front of me, but I think that cush drive is serviceable so you should be able to remove the outer cover to see if if the rubber bits are still intact.
