Hey Buellers. I'm posting this here because I know he loved BadWeb, and respected you all. He sent me links from here all the time, and enjoyed the time spent conversing with you all. He loved his 1125R, loved the Buell brand, loved EBR, and loved riding. His 1125R was his commuter, and he had an hour commute each morning. I helped him work on her a lot, and will miss those hours very much. He was my best friend. Here's a link to the original article: http://www.mercedsunstar.com/2012/07/17/2421601/mo torcyclist-killed-near-atwater.html#storylink=mise arch Just wanted to let you guys know. May Gabe rest in peace. Ride safe all. |

For those who are willing and able (please don't harm your own situation by giving, as Gabe would never have wanted that), this is a fund set up by Brian Gresham, his close friend from Crossfit Merced, to donate to Gabe's wife (Dora) and unborn child to help offset funeral costs, etc. They've hit their goal, but I don't know what that goal was based on. Every little bit will help, though. http://www.gofundme.com/vsz80 Thank you for the prayers during this time. |

It's tough when a good guy leaves too soon. May he rest in peace and I am sure he is with our Lord. May God Bless his family and ease their pain. Thanks for the link, I will pitch in too. Too many times I have had close calls at intersections...I lost a very good friend a long time ago when he was entering an intersection on a green light--the construction workers, driving a pickup pulling a trailer full of bricks, ran the red and broadsided him. For me, commuting is an absolute no. |

That is terrible. What an awful situation. That's what scares me, something completely out of a riders control. I will pray for him and his family, that God grants them peace. |

Just spent some time with his widow, Dora. She is holding up remarkably well. Probably better than I am. Strong woman. For my 2 wheeled brethren, it seems like Gabe saw the truck try to dart across the intersection. Locked up his brakes (especially the front) and flipped the bike. Gabe hit the rear area of the side of the truck. The bike slowed down enough to actually skid through the intersection. A split second in either direction, and he would be browsing BadWeb today. I know how Gabe rode, I rode with him. He rode fast (yeah, posting in the 1125R forum, here), but he rode careful. He probably saw the truck stopped, and thought the dude would stay there, as the dude should have. When the truck gunned across the intersection, Gabe did what he could, but it wasn't enough. Thanks for the outpouring of prayers. Buell riders are something else. I had never heard of Buell except through Gabe. I ended up going with an 01 Connie I got a good deal on, but if I were going to get another bike, I'd find and buy a Buell Uly. There is nothing like seeing the heart of EB reflected in the bike, and the community is definitely worth being a part of. Thanks, all. |

Effin shame. My heart goes out to his family and friends. For once, lately, I'm more worried about others, not my own stupidity. age... Both my Buells carry my closest brother's ashes. He NEVER turns me down for a ride now. Heal Z |

RIP Gabe. My condolences go out to his family and wife. I wonder how much the truck driver's age (78) had to do with the accident. His sight/reaction time surely wasnt at a level required for safe driving. |

RIP. My condolences to his family. When something like this happens in really makes me think about selling my bikes. I have small kids and I can't even imagine leaving them by them selves. |

Many thanks to those who were able to give to the Gabe memorial fund. We have collectively managed to raise nearly $4500 last time I looked. This will be used by the family to defray expenses related to the funeral home. Also will be used, I imagine, to purchase items needed to Dora, since some lowlifes broke into his garage and stole Gabe's other bike (Bandit, found a great deal on it and worked hard to bring it back to life), their other refrigerator, and all their tools and such. Probably some loser who noticed the article and decided that Dora wasn't in any condition to come out and shoot anyone. For anyone who happens to be in the Central Valley of CA area and is interested, there will be an event we're calling GabeFest on August 4th from around 1pm to around 4pm. Informal thing. Come when you like, stay however long or little you want. Drinking will be encouraged. 1083 Gina Way. Oakdale, CA. We will have someone watching the widow's house just in case the thieves get a bright idea to come back during the service. |

Yeah, that' a good idea. The thieves may trip on the doorstep while breaking in, and hit their head. 25 or so times. And then fall on a screwdriver. 7 or 8 times. That's a dangerous doorstop. Somebody should be there to call for an ambulance and get them prompt help, we wouldn't want them to lay there hurt for more than 5 hours. |
