After riding home yesterday from work, I went out and jumped on my 2010 R and nothing when I pushed starter button. Had IC, running lights and turn signals. No headlights, horn or brake lights. All fuses test good. All obvious connections seem fine.
Anybody else had this? Possible relay problem?
I've got the shop manual. It's not real helpful.
Thanks, Michael

Same thing just happened to me, got ready to ride last Friday, started the bike up got gear on went to pull out of garage and when I turned the handle bars she went dead, had lights, cluster was dead except when in park positions, moved the ignition wire at the base of the switch and everything started working again. Ordered a new ignition switch, should be in today, should fix the problem. Wire going into the switch broke and lost connection. Also check your battery and all connections, and charging system, if your stator burned up while riding, you could still ride on the battery power for a little bit.

I dropped bike off at dealer. Maybe they can figure out what no headlights, brake lights, horn, & starter have in common. Like I said, bike ran fine before. Good charge (EBR full kit) and the running lights, IC, and turn signals still work. Hoping for something simple.
I'll post up when we get word.
It will be awhile, as they can't even look at it until 7/28.

Don't throw out your old one.
It just needs the wires re-soldered to the back.

Mine did the same thing twice, then I fixed it.
Re-soldered the wires and relieved some aluminum from the fairing stay.

2 years ago, no recurrence.

Rash - I took a look through the manual and I see that the headlight and horn are on one chassis ground and the tail/stop is on another ground. So think you are good from a ground perspective. On the power side it looks like the ignition switch has two outputs - 1 goes to the Engine subharness (for ECM and cluster) and the other goes to the key relay. The key relay circuit energizes two fuses in the fuse block - one for Brake/Horn and one for Lights. Downstream, the Lights fuse circuit provides power to the starter relay which controls the starter solenoid and headlight assembly.
So... I think Zac and Mack are spot on with the ignition switch diag. If not then check those two fuses and the key relay.

Thanks to everyone for their input. It was the switch. I brought the bike home yesterday, after dropping my wife off near the shop at the airport for her work trip.

The new switch will be in this week sometime. I did take the old one apart and added a little wire and resoldered it. I think I'll put the new one in, and save the old one for a spare. On a long road trip, it wouldn't be hard to swap out, if trouble occured...
