Well, I thought it would be a simple remove and rebuild, but I guess not.      Please tell me i can save the rotor by using JB-Weld or something similar. And the stator, will it be rebuildable or not? I'm worried there's no saving it. | ||

That broken part is just a plastic guide. I broke one off my stator core while I was stripping it. Just make sure the windings are behind where the guide would have been and you should be fine. As far as the rotor, I'd recommend just doing the EBR mod. Better stator cooling, and no worries about the insert/epoxy. | ||

I'd like to be able to reuse the rotor because money is still tight these days. I was planning on modding mine like Hildstrom did. I was just wondering what I could use to fix where the epoxy had broken off. If I can't do it, I might as well just pony up the money for the EBR rotor. Will they take the rotor like that? | ||

Wow, that's a damaged stator and rotor. I agree with Baf; that stator can still be cleaned up and rewound. I wouldn't hesitate to clean and J-B Weld that rotor as long as none of the magnets have visibly shifted. I'd use some kind of a degreaser, then wire brush, then acetone, and thorough drying before applying the J-B Weld (not J-B Kwik). Use a popsicle stick as a putty knife of sorts and push as much as possible into those cracks. You may even want to remove as much of the original epoxy as possible. As far as core exchange/refund, better email EBR the question and a link to that pic. |
