I've tried to piece together what it takes to convert, but wanted more specifics. What all parts do I need? 08 Stator 08 Rotor 08 VR What else? I'm doing this for backup purposes. I also plan on getting my 09 stator rewound, but I don't run any accessories, so I don't need the 'benefit' of the higher power in the 09, I just want reliability (and yes, I know about the EBR mod which I'll probably have done at some point) of the 08. |

AFAIK, the VR is the same for '08 thru '10. |

Sas. I am running my 09 stator in single phase mode all the time..I install a switch in any chance I need extra power .. |

Just the stator and rotor I believe. Ignition cover should still be compatible, VR should still work, etc. Don't forget to unhook the upgrade harness if you have it. It's unnecessary and won't do any good if it kicks in with the already marginal output of the 08 system. (Message edited by baf on July 04, 2012) |

Ah, thought I'd need the VR- guess I have a spare now Thanks- I'm excited to get back on the road. Parts should be here soon. |

Just an FYI - 08 stator/rotor will fit in ALL years ignition cover. 09 stator/rotor are a tad bigger and will only fit in 09-10 ignition covers. Z |

I've got to do the same thing,i think will need the longer mounting bolts from an 08 stator as well |

You don't need any different mounting bolts. All you need is the 08 stator, and 08 rotor, any possibly the ignition cover gasket. |

How much does an 08 rotor/stator cost? |

Too much. I would have to dig up the part numbers again and get a quote, but it was a little over a grand for both. At this point and time, if your 09 stator is still good, I would send the rotor in to EBR for their oiling hole service. Cheaper and you keep the higher output 09 stator. |

I dont need the higher output though. But I just had my 09 stator replaced, and Warrantied till 2016 |

I picked them up off Ebay for a fair price... |

Does the oil hole drilling pretty reliably solve the overheating issue? |

Jbarros ~ too soon to say. |

It is what the EBR 1190RS uses, so I'd say... problem solved. |

In an e-mail to an 1125R owner here in Colorado, Erik said the hole drops stator temp by 50 degrees. |

I finally got my swap to 08 done. I missed riding! I borrowed a homemade crank tool, but don't remember from whom I got it on the board (sorry to say, but this board has the worst forum software). Even though I had the tool, my mechanic buddy was able to swap out the rotor without using it (or taking off exhaust) by using some kind of tool that goes between the gears. Allegedly it is used for a similar designed engine and he got it from a friend at a moto shop. I'm actually afraid to have watched the process, but I can verify 14.2 volts Only downer is the idiots at the local HD shop (Ray Price) ordered the wrong rotor nut for me, so I re-used the one I got from the 08 seller on ebay. |

I'm interested to know how the modified EBR rotor works. I've had it fitted to my bike and no problems so far, but looking at where the oil hole is drilled, doesn't the rotor nut cover this area and therefore prevent the oil from being sprayed directly onto the stator? |

No, it doesn't cover that area. |

I have a 2009 1125CR with a 2010 warranty replacement engine and the sub-harness recall was done. Bike seems to be charging fine. Do I need the EBR rotor? Do I have the high output stator? thanks- Mort |

Mort You have the "HO" stator If you want to ride the bike and not worry, yes, you need the rotor. Pretty sure you can then jettison the "harness fix" but it won't hurt much if you leave it... I have an 08 with original battery, stator-rotor, R/R. 28k miles since DEC 07. I have installed 2 EBR rotors, both running fine today on 09 1125s. |

I'm in the process of swaping to an 08 stator/rotor setup, had the parts before the drilled rotor was an option. Are there pictures here somewhere of an 08 setup?what do i have to change from the 09 rotor to the 08 rotor? |
