This is a follow up thread to the thread below. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/684862.html?1340756319 I found some metal shavings and a metal ring on the magnetic drain plug when I did an oil change. I emailed EBR and they said the metal ring is most likely one of the clips that secure the wrist pin. This means I will have to pull the frame and remove the cylinders and heads to reinstall the wrist pin. Does anyone have any advise for pulling the cylinders. I have pulled the frame before, but I have not worked on the internals of the engine. | ||

the service manual pretty much has it covered. go slow and don't drop anything inside the case. other than that you should be fine. they didn't happen to offer any reason why they thought that was the failure did they? i can see from the shape etc that's the most likely source of shrapnel but that's a pretty odd/low incidence failure. | ||

You'll probably need to do a little more than replace the wristpin circlip. Expect to replace the piston and cylinder along with it at a minimum. Hard to imagine it made it's way to the bottom of the engine without additional damage. I'd Be thankful it did not grenade. | ||

The pics I sent them were not the best quality. They said they could confirm if I sent them the piece. But my roommate threw it away. I'm thankful the engine did not grenade. The engine does not sound any different, and the power is still there. I'm hopeful that its just the wrist clip pin. I have an 09 service manual, and I need a 2010 service manual |
