So, if you can stay away from the easy low-brow responses... Can anyone tell me where to stick the crank shaft locking tool? I'm trying to do the rotor and stator replacement on my own with no manual. No idea how to lock the crank when removing the rotor nut. |

You have to take the muffler off. There's a plug recessed up in the motor (you can see it from underneath) just like one of the oil drain plugs. Pull that, and the tool goes in there. |

Just in front of the screen cover is a hole. Stick a 6mm Allen in the hole and you'll pull out the plug. The one I just did had a copper crush washer. Slide the lock tool in and turn a thread or two. Put a socket(17mmIIRC) on the crank after pulling the cap, snap-ring and plug from the left-side-ignition cover and slowly turn the motor until you feel the crank lobe. The crank lobe has a notch for front and rear cylinders, pick one and screw the tool in the rest of the way. Ta-Daaa! |

OMG Kevmean, that's huge. I've asked before on this board, this is the first I've seen that available. This should help. I got the nut off last night (agian with the cheap-laugh set-ups) and it was easy. Little heat and it came right off. |
