I've gotten quotes through progressive and never once needed a quote. Their online quote doesn't require one. All they need is the bike year/manufacture/model. Just tell them you're still shopping and wanted to verify cost.

I do have progressive and I'm paying $370 for my 1125R and my FXRS (Full coverage on both with roadside)

You only need the VIN if you are actually buying insurance, they still will give a quote without one.

Easy - just use one off EBAY. Public info, and no risking anyone here

But, as stated, you don't need it anyway

I have Progressive insurance and it doubled when I went from a 07 Firebolt to the 09 CR.

I also live in Louisiana, a state with some of the highest insurance rates.

Also call GMAC insurance 800-325-1190 for $$. Very good rates.

Yes Geico is much more reasonable. Progressive wanted $948 for $250/ded. collision on the CR, $28 for my '94 Vulcan! Don't they all use the same tables to figure rates or maybe Progressive has had costly experiences with high-perf bikes.

Re: GMAC rates. I have six bikes liability only (100-300), all 650cc or bigger, $192.00 per year total.

Progressive gives me the best price on my bikes. Geico, best for my cage.

I pay $243/year to Progressive for liability on my Blast, liability + comp on my CR, and liability on my can-am outlander. I can add collision to the CR for a couple hundred more a year (nowhere near the $948 Ronmold was quoted). Geico wanted closer to $1k/yr for the same coverages on the two bikes only (and that was with multi-policy discount).

On the other hand, I pay Geico just under $700/year for full coverage on my 2010 Forte. Progressive wanted 1200/year, with multi-policy discount.

I have no idea why my rates are so low, I've got 2 in-state tickets (reduced at court, still moving violations though) and a 4-point out-of-state ticket (luckily, NY doesn't record that crap), 2 not-at-fault accidents (one with a $13,000 collision claim, should have been totalled instead, they got all the money back from the other insurance company though), and 2 comp claims on my record in the past year and a half. I'm not complaining though : ), just laying low and trying to keep my nose clean.

Progressive was expensive for my 1125R. I got the best rate through www.dairylandcycle.com. I have my 1125R, Speed Triple and F2 insured through Dairyland and my VFR800 and DR-Z400E on Progressive. Yes, it's cheaper that way.

Called GMAC, they were ridiculous, they wanted 2400 a year! I will give Dairyland a try.

Wow -- there are lots of high quotes coming out of Progressive. I guess Flo needs the money. ; )

Thanks for the tip on Dairyland. I'll check that out next time I'm up for renewal.

Just checked into Dairyland. Quoted me $549 for my bikes for the same coverage. I doubt I'll locate any cheaper than my USAA that's subbed out to Progressive.
