I am thinking about buying an 09 1125R with 12K on it. It's in good shape and selling for a good price. The stator and voltage regulator were replaced under warranty as well as the clutch seals so it looks like most of the common problems have been fixed, for now. I like the looks, I love the technology but I'm nervous because I own a Cagiva Gran Canyon. I love the Cagiva but some parts are impossible to find and checking the rear cylinder valve clearance is a pain in the ass. I am afraid if I buy the Buell I would then have two fun bikes that are difficult to maintain. Am I wrong? Is it worth the hassel to own the Buell? Is there something I should know? Thanks, Ray Okay, well obviuosly you guys are pro Buell, which is what I expected but I appreciate your input. One more question: The seller purchased an extended warranty when he bought the bike. It has a little over 4 years left on it and it's transferable to a new owner for $1300. I generally don't buy extended warranties because I have been riding and maintaining my own bikes for many years and I generally don't trust other people to work on something on which my life depends. So, although I am sort of answering my own question I was wondering if anyone has had favorable results from a Harley extended warranty? Thanks for your time and input. I really appreciate it. My wife is saying "buy it", but then she's part of the reason why I have 5 motorcycles, with all the associated maintenance and expense, ........... and a ton of fun! Thanks Again, Ray (Message edited by rried on May 28, 2012) |

I would not sweat it. Parts for these bikes will be around for a very very very very long time. I would imagine aftermarket companies some day will start to reproduce parts after the factory stops. If you can rebuild a 1974 cb550 you will be able to do the same for any buell.....SO BUY IT OR I WILL |

12k miles on it,hmmm, I would question the milegae but I found an 09 w ONLY 539 miles on here, in all white/black etc. Try researching and doing more homework, so far I love my Buell 1125R and w a few mods this bike can become one awesome ride |

I think the higher mileage is good. Shows that the bike didn't have constant problems and was used! My 08 1125R had 32K on it and it still runs like a champ. After HD quits making parts I'm not sure how long support will continue. It depends on the condition of EBR as well. We all have to remember, that in the big picture, we are a very small market. |

I've got a 2009 CR that is almost at 15k miles. These bikes are so much fun to ride!! If you decide it's not for you, let me know. My wife likes the look of the R better anyway... |

Double check having to buy that warranty. Doesn't sound right, don't think that's legal here but you're over there. |

I bought my 2008 about 1 1/2 years ago, put 12,000 miles on it, and totaled it last month I had my chance to get out and go with another brand, but I chose to replace it with a 2009 model (with only 120 miles on it!!) I'm not too worried, obviously Harley still is committed for support for a few more years We've got some solid aftermarket companies There's an ample supply of used and totaled bikes out there EBR is in business, know the bike, and can make some money providing support and solutions. Rotax makes the engine, and they are a solid company. Many of the other parts were sourced from major companies that are still around. I don't think we have too much to worry about. go for it better to regret something you have done than something you've not, no major probs with my bike, nothing worse than any other bike out there |

The seller is free to sell you the warranty, or cash it out after you buy the bike without it. Transfer fee is only like $50 IIRC, but the guy wants his money so he's "marking up" the bike price if you want the warranty. He gets a pro-rated refund if he sells it out. Find out what THAT number is, not the amount he bought it for. That said? I flat LOVE my 09 CR. Ride it. If it speaks to you, buy it. Worst case...Rotax ain't going anywhere anytime soon. |

My buddy just bought an '09 CR with about the same miles as the one you are thinking of buying. It too has the H-D extended warranty. If you are handy with working on your own bikes and have the garage and plenty of tools, go for it. If you are not handy, make sure you have a trusted dealership near you. I personally would not hesitate buying one and that's with hindsight (I own an '08). Parts are still plentiful and I would think it would be for another few years. Remember though, the major service is due on that bike at 12k miles. That requires engine rotation for the valve inspection. It's not that hard to do, you just need to have the service manual and the garage space since the bike will be down for a few days. |

I say go for it! I bought my 09 1125CR a little under a year ago (June 2011) with 4,100 miles on it. Replaced the stator, voltage regulator, and recall harness with 5,500 miles and now have 17,600 miles on her with more to go! |

With one or two good fixes for the charging system issues, I'd go for it. Other than the charging system, the 09/10 models are better than the original models. Loretta was built at the end of the first week or the beginning of the second week of production in 2007. She's an early model. I'd love a '10 with the sight-glass. Z |

Bought it! Love it! Can't stay away from the thing. Now I need to read through all the postings on the 1125R and learn how to keep it running. Thanks, Ray |
