Has anyone tried running a small external oil line from the oil cooler to the stator cover with a "jet" squirting onto the rotor/stator? Is this a stupid idea because no one really wants to potentially ruin their stator cover to test it? There might be some reason why EBR went with the mod'd rotor vs the modded cover? |

I like that idea. |

I had thought about diverting the oil line a long time ago. It was my first idea about cooling the stator, long before there was any talk about an oiling rotor. The problem that kept me from trying it was that I was not familiar with the oil flow inside of the engine, and I was unwilling to divert oil to a new location by potentially stealing it from an unknown location. Although the idea seemed smart when I first thought about it, the more I thought about it the more it appeared to be a blind shot in the dark. I wasn't worried about ruining a stator cover. I was worried about ruining the engine out of ignorance. So I never tried it. EBR went with the modded rotor because that was part of the original design for the engine. The final manufacturing step was just skipped to save money when the rotors were made. |

I guess its easy to forget that the oil pumping capacity of a motorcycle is not a linear comparison to that of a car or truck engine. I wasn't even thinking about that. (Message edited by pyrogen on May 15, 2012) (Message edited by pyrogen on May 15, 2012) |
