I'm getting up in miles on the original stator and was thinking about taking a peek at the stator before my next trip. I've got a spare Stator, but would rather not have to change it on the road. Can you get the stator cover off without needing to change the gasket? If not what is the part number for the gasket? |

Yes and No. You should be able to remove the ignition cover without removing the gasket. The problem that you could run into is that when they assembled the bike, they might have applied some adhesive to the gasket at the site where the stator wires come out of the engine case. If your gasket is glued to the rubber grommet, there's the possibility that you could tear the gasket if you tried to take it off and it wanted to stay behind. Leave the gasket behind and you should be OK. Murphy's Law tells us that if you don't have a spare on hand, you will damage the gasket. R0008.1am |

In case I wasn't clear, the gasket is a paper gasket that isn't bonded to the metal surfaces with adhesive. It's re-usable. |
