I have a 08 in my 08 and a 08 in my 09, both are fine and have been problem free. The 09 ate a few 09 stators, then it has been perfect since the swap.

I just Ordered the low output stator kit from EBR.

OUCH!

This is my last ditch effort to see if it will hold in the Cali-Summer temps.

the fine print that you may not hear people mention is that some of them have battery problems.

there's no doubt about it, the 2008 stator produces less AC voltage than the 2009 stator, which is why it runs cooler. lower output and low rpms aren't the greatest recipe for battery life.

Hi everyone. Fairly new 1125CR owner here. Nice to see some excellent knowledge on the bike.

I was wondering if the 08 stator and rotors are still available?

Im sure I ll have the issue down the road. The PO told me the dealer fixed it but I am getting system voltage now so Im going to throw a new regulator at it and see how that goes.

I have an 08 with 28k miles and the original battery, Stator/rotor and regulator.
Never had any electrical problems except broken wires at the switch.

I run 35W HIDs(lo-beam only) and use the heated grips VERY often.

She gets put on the tender once or twice a week and it always goes green within a half hour.

Zack

<edit> Oh , BTW, she's been on the road since December 18, 2007.

Did the early EBR kit with the 18 pole stator and all well so far.

That all sounds good. Are they still available through the dealer or do you just wait till someone totals their bike and try and beat the mad rush for the stator/rotor?

Doesn't sound like anymore stators from EBR. But I did just buy their rotor last week, they have limited supply fyi. Going to try my stator re-round by Rick's Motorsports.

Every single part the 1125 is still available new from the Buell dealer of your choosing. But someone in your situation would be better off getting the oiling rotor from EBR, it is a fraction of the price of the 08 Stator/Rotor, and you get to keep the higher output charging system.

Just to make certain I'm understanding --

The issue isn't the stator, but the lack of cooling, and the EBR oiling rotor will correct the problem?

Sooo...my turn! My 09' CR the stator finally is shot. I purchased a used 08" stator and have the original 09 Rotor that has had the EBR oil port mod done. I have not been able to find the answer by the search engine here. So my question is can I use the 08' stator with the 09 EBR modified rotor, if so can I just swap out stators or do I need to change VR etc.. The bike has the HD harness installed, I presume I will need to disable it and \run it straight. How about the housing do I need to change it to different case? Any help is appreciated. I know some purchased from EBR the kit that is no longer available, what did it consists of? Thanks in advance.

Dualbuells - NO!

08 and 09+ stator/rotors are different physical sizes.
You must use a rotor that matches your stator model.

08 is an 18 pole stator and is smaller than the 09+(12 pole).

An 08 stator/rotor will fit inside an 09+ cover.
An 09+ Stator/rotor pair will NOT fit inside an 08 cover

dualbuells, Do I infer correctly that your '09 stator that just died had both the harness relay and the EBR modified rotor?

Yes I had the relay installed soon after the notice from HD arrived with approx 3K total miles on it. I just installed the EBR modified rotor approx 2K miles ago, I have roughly 14K total miles on her. When I was doing the rotor swap there was already considerable charring on the stator windings, so I was sure it wouldn't be long before it would go south on me. In hind site what I should have done then was do the 08' change then. What I may do now is just get the 09' stator re-wound at Ricks or perhaps send it overseas to BettaBikes, since I won't be able to ride until all this freakin' snow is gone here above the 45th Parallel ! I will need to pick up a used 08' rotor, then I will have a back up plan if the rewind doesn't hold up.

Re-wind it, get rid of the harness, stop worrying, and ride. The damage was done before you swapped rotors. ~2K miles is about as long as my (original and well burnt) stator lasted after doing rotor swap.

I've got a failed stator here (mechanical failure, unrelated to the issues everyone is seeing) that was on an oiling rotor all of it's life, on stock regulator, without harness. Had a few thousand miles on it before failure, and still looked *brand new* when I took it out.

I see no reason a high quality rewind (with good epoxy and high temperature wire) won't last indefinitely with the oiling rotor. Bonus points if you toss on a CE-605 SB.

08 stator and rotor in both of mine

No problems, had to remove the harness "upgrade" to get full charging
