I'm thinking about changing out the stock master for a radial unit for track duty and am looking for some feedback. If you switched to a Radial I'm interested to know what ratio you are running and difference in braking performance. Was it worth it? Would be nice to know what brand you are running as well. |

Jdugger - What ratio do you use 18 or 20? (Message edited by General Tso on April 04, 2012) |

check with Al at American Sportbike. I upgraded during the winter for track purposes and did the pads too. Big differenc. Drop AL a line telling him what you want to do. He explained some considerations and I think I made the best choice for my situation using his info. You can trust Al. IMHO |

I'm also running the RSC19 with the ZTL2. I run the 18 ratio (one finger power brakes) around town, commute and for lane splitting. And the 20 for deliberate fast riding as the feel is a little more progressive and less touchy. |

I'm on my 3rd radial brake master cylinder, 1st came from a GSXR, was ok 2nd was a expensive MAGURA unit but had no brake light switch 3rd is BREMBO's 19RCS, this is by far the best, don't waste money on others, just get this and marvel in it's power. I'm also running a BREMBO clutch master cylinder from a 1098, it makes the clutch super super light. |

We run a Nissin on the 1190, but they are nearly impossible to get. It's Shawn's choice over everything else. Accosatto comes on the bike but they suck. Ordered a Nissin through Parts Unlimited that is similar, but I don't know the model. I'll track it down. Have yet to use it but it came highly recommended from another respected Buell owner. 18/19 |

> Jdugger - What ratio do you use 18 or 20? 18. The adjustment is somewhat misleading. You are adjusting the leverage ratio of the lever, not the bore or throw of the MC itself. That's not to say I'm complaining.. I really like the RCS19. That's to say the Brembo is its own thing, and set to 18 or 20, it doesn't necessarily feel like and 18 or 20, it feels like an RCS... The Nissin Rodrob mentions is probably the old Buell Race part available back in 2008/2009 as part of the AMA kit. They are hard to come by, but you can get similar quality from Brembo in the form of their billet pieces. Expect to pay $800-$2000, depending on model. For the money, the RCS19 is a nice piece of middle ground. |

Is upgrading to the Brembo worth the cost for a bike that is primarily used for commuting and may never see the track? |

It's not worth it for a street bike. But it sure would be much better than the OEM one that seems not able to handle the power of the ZTL2--always has that long travel. For me the power is more than adequate--in fact it is very powerful for street use. But the long travel bugs me. (Message edited by rogue_biker on April 05, 2012) |

I will buy a brembo... but I have doubts between 18 and 20!! I use the bike more on the track than road ... I like a strong initial bit What do you suggest me? |

20 will have a more firm lever, 18 will give you more power. I have small hands and 4-finger brake. 18 it is... |

I have the Accasatto unit on my XB12R track bike, and love it, great feel and feedback, much better than stock and a must for the track. |

The stock MC gets overwhelmed at track days very quickly -- like by lap two it's fading and by lap five I'm crushing my ring finger against the throttle... So I now have a take-off MC from a 09 gsxr1000... was gonna try that and if it's not enough, then pony up for a brembo 19x18 for my CR. This is all good for track use but for street rides? I'm kinda stuck for an idea of how to keep the stock mirrors. Ideas? I might just affix the gsxr-take-off to a set of clubmans and leave it there for track days... swap the bars before the day. etc. But I'd rather have one good system 24/7 -- and then just pull the mirrors on track days. |

Boog: Yeah, they are good. Nothing amazing but better than any of the other oem swaps I've tried. Clip-ons are mandatory tho. Natty, the GSXR MC should do you right. |

good info there on the clip-ons as that def increases the cost of the change. |

I am going to assume my GSX-R 19mm Nissin unit was defective as it had some other issues but when it was working it was an improvement over stock but not the feel and power I was looking for. Just swapped to an R6 unit yesterday (16mm) and am much more pleased. The lever pull feels a lot more linear and easier to control, just go to a dealership and feel an R6 vs. a GSX-R. Power was similar, maybe a bit better with the R6 unit but the increased feel allowed me to brake even harder. All of this was with fairly worn out EBC racing pads (don't like street riding very much). Can't wait to see what the bike is like when I switch to the Dunlopad's, might even rebuild the caliper. |
