Hi Guys anyone got any specs for standard rear spring? I want a softer/lighter one. |

It's a progressive rate spring, so it works "well" across a range of rider weights. What's your weight? I've run a 575lb successfully -- I'm around 175-180 before gear. I've gone back down to a 550, though, and for the really bumpy tracks around here it's working a bit better. The EBR/Showa shock ships with a 575, and it's a decent choice for the money. |

Nice one nuts, great info. I'm 200lb plus gear, but even with the long arm I'm on minimum preload and it's too firm.Using minimum compression damping too. On a standard bike, try removing the belt then checking suspension movement!!! it's interesting...I've been helping Willie with his prototype sprung tensioner, definitely helps increase movement. |

onebat...be careful you might make the rear wheel bearings last longer! BTW...I'm at 195 in my Bday suit - the bikes are sprung toooo stiff for backroad use...try and balance the front and back..or you'll be riding a Hobby Horse! this guy visited our club last month - kinda goes by the mantra "let the bike do the work" when it comes to suspension set up ...he's an old guy like me...good stuff: (Dave Moss, Catalyst Reaction Suspension) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU5ZOjT1ipk good luck with the tensioner! |

On a standard bike I'm pretty sure belt length has a massive effect on suspension travel.Yes spring is too stiff but the difference in movement when the idler is removed is staggering. I'm chain drive-150links- and the pivot geometry is causing me serious probs with chain tension! My fault for wanting a lot of travel to help weight transfer. Your old post will help loads though,at least I have a starting point now,I'll start with cheap springs, then when i find a weight that works I'll try a better quality one. thanks loads |

onebat - there is a "idler" sprocket for the chain set up on the EEEBBBRR site...you might have a look - can't afford a new wheel for the 3 brg set up - but I do have rice burner wheels that may work (either belt (with an adaptor)or chain) and they have 3 brgs!...trying to get ready for a vintage race at the end of the month - a rice burner rear wheel is a project for another time...again, good luck over there! |
