Well I finally sold my 1125R, she was a great bike and lot of fun. Wish I could have kept her and my new one but I can only have one at this moment so I went with this instead.

It is definitely worth it Hands down the fastest, most fun bike I have ever owned. The power is amazing but the overall handling and feel of the bike are just amazing. It is a completely different beast than the 1125. The 1125 was fun and different but the S1K is even more so I think. You can't go wrong with it. |

the problem in michigan is insurance when it comes to having multiple vehicles. we pay into this catastrophic fund for every vehicle, like $180 each every year!! i like the blue, but i would not be safe on something like that!! hard enough for me to behave on my cr!! |

like $180 each every year!! Come to Ontario where the 1125R will ding you $2500 a year even though its stored for 6 months due to snow. I cant even get an online quote for the 1000rr so id hazard its in range of 5k plus |

1125r in MA was 3250 to insure. And thats only 6/7 months of riding..In NC i pay about 7 bills and I could ride 12mo. a year... Same policy, Full Coverage. All depends on where you live. Sick bike though! I like that color blue |

Hey RatGin... Go to Jevco. They don't consider the 1125r a sport bike. Have 1 ticket. Costing me $1275 for the year, no collision. |

Sorry, it doesn't handle as well as my 1125r. I know. Sure, it makes big power, but doesn't have the same torque. I think the my red buell makes a better street bike. Also ridden a 2011 zx-10r, which I think is a better looking bike than the (ugly duckling) beemer. Still in love...She's such a great bike. |

I've ridden an S1000RR and was hugely disappointed in the midrange power, but was just as surprised by the top-end rush. It's rip-your-arms-out fast up top, but IMO, a liter-class machine should have strong mid-range grunt too. I didn't get much of a chance to test the handling, though. |

I'm very sorry if you think the 1125r is a better handling bike. I had the Showa race shocks up front and the race shock on the rear on my 1125. Still don't think it comes close to the handling of the BMW. And as for looks that's definitely a personal opinion but I have to say I love the style. I've never been able to get into kawi's. For just a little more you can get BMW quality and engineering. Plus it comes with a 3 year warranty and a extra 3 years is only $700 which covers everything on the bike (even if you track it)! |

Whats the general maintenance and reliability of these bikes? I don't know anyone personally who has one. |

FWIW: I spoke to Keith Code and Cobie Fair (California Superbike School) and they said that after they switched from the Kawasaki ZX-6Rs to the S1000RRs, the number of crashes they've had over the course of the year went down by 50%. So much for more power being more dangerous... |

Danny- I bought my 1125 from Jim Dugger on this forum and we weighed about the same. Do the setup was pretty good, I can't remember who he said setup his suspension. I didn't adjust the preload since we were basically the same weight but I did tweak the rebound and compression. As for the S1000RR I set it up myself and am pretty happy with the results. The steering geometry just feels sharper and more consistent. I only slightly touch the bars and the bike immediately goes in that direction. Don't get me wrong I love the 1125 and feel that it is a great handling bike, but I just feel the BMW is a little better. Fio- the bike calls for a 600 mile service ( which I have done) then every 6,000 for oil/filter, brake check, etc. Every 18k check valve clearance, spark plugs and so on. I'm probably going to do oil every 2-3k since it's cheap insurance. Some guys on the forum have 30 odd thousand and haven't had much issue. I haven't heard of any major problems. Like I stated above the warranty is top notch and I feel it speaks volumes for the quality if the bike. |

Jamie- I read an pretty in-depth article on Keith and it said the same thing. Since the bike has such good traction control and race ABS it's a lot safer for riders to learn on. It is a very weird feeling when the bike wheelies and then gently cuts throttle and slowly sets the front end down. Then immediately gives you full throttle. If you don't want any of it on you can simply turn it off or put the bike in Slick mode and hang on lol. One thing I thought was pretty cool about the race ABS is how the braking force is applied in a hard braking situation. The front brake master cylinder has a second line that comes off of it and routes back to the rear caliper. When you really get on the from brakes instead of all the force being applied to the front it also routes some of it back to to the rear. |

Yeah, when I first heard of the switch, I questioned the wisdom of putting a first-time track rider on the most powerful production superbike EVER as a learning tool. Turns out Keith was right, and I was wrong. That's why he runs the school and I'm just a student I guess. |

A good friend of mine had one of the 1st of these to arrive on Oahu. He had so much trouble with it but I really get the feeling that he was the exception to the rule. Bad electronics, bad cams, bad news. It was a rocket for sure, though! |

As a rule I never buy anything that has just come out and is brand new. I don't care how much testing was done or any of that. The bugs never get worked out until after those first few months of the company selling whatever item it is to the masses. I haven't had any problems so far, then again I have a 2012 so its the 3rd model year. All the bugs have been worked out |

Crusty, I am happy to own a dec '07 build 1125r. Sure, some teething issues, but no stator nonsense! I think you are definitely in the green. Enjoy your new Bavarian rocket! |
