Have an 09 CR here, has had harness upgrade. Had stator go out and got it rewound at RM Stator. It puts out within spec now. on start up everything works great but as soon as the bike warms up it stops charging and starts running like crap with low voltage warning and check engine light. Bypassed the recall harness, same thing. Tossed another regulator on-- same thing. Checked and stator is still putting out same. Can smell something getting hot when this occurs but have not found anything as yet with touch test.Have the whole top of bike open at this point. So WTF!!! Over!!! |

Loose battery connections. Or the battery itself got/is getting, cooked. |

funny thing, my bike does the same thing. I think the poor running is due to low voltage. Mine is under warranty and going back there very soon. I have no help for you yet, but at least we aren't alone. I'll post something if the dealer finds something out. good luck |

Not loose connection and changed batteries as well. And poor running is due to low voltage, fuel injected bikes do not like low voltage. |

Jim you have a short some where, the charging system is only 3 items stator, battery, and Vr, beyond that its wires, if there is a draw due to a shorted wire or failing part ( fan ? ) nicked wire? fuel pump failing |

My Brother in law had a stator done by RM stator on his GSXR, he actually has had 3 from them and now they wont warranty it anymore and he is going to a factory one. Check the gauge of the wire and more sure its the same as factory or better. That one one main problem he had was they undersized the wire and it melted the insulation off. The other issue he found was when the coil is zip tied together before it gets dipped it looks like it was to tight and created a hot spot / heat sink and that is where it would burn out. |

Jim I found the positive cable on Shawns 1125rr rubbed through between the starter solenoid and the starter and the battery the connection between the startersolenoid on the battery just needed to be moved I heat shrinked a over wrap on the solenoid to starter cable |

Found it after several more tries. Bike looks like hand grenade went off in it. And am going to kill my good friend and the perpetrator of this whole problem, David Fincham. Seems there is a ground wire going to the front head and it was loose!!!!!! Had to pull left side radiator and such and had the whole top of motor --throttle bodies etc off.I cannot begin to count how many beers he owes me! Let me amend this,as I have thought I found the problem at least 5 times now, so will keep my fingers crossed until I get it all together and test it------ (Message edited by firemanjim on March 29, 2012) |

Well, if that was it, thanks for taking one for the Team Jim! If this was the problem, it should be on the short list of things to check when "odd stuff" starts happening on an 1125. |

It was the ground strap AND the regulator! But with a different regulator it seems happy now,had it on dyno and ran the piss out of it with no "weirdness' going on.YAY!!! |

Is this a main ground wire between the motor and the frame? Would it have been undone during major (valve check) service? If so could someone give me some tips on where each end is connected? cheers, chili |
