Following in Dirty Johns footsteps I decided to fit a Brembo P32F rear caliper to replace the OEM non-rebuildable Nissin unit. Doing research I found that while all of the P32F's are essentially the same, the location of the bleeder and line input can vary. The ideal unit I think is the 07BB0111 (fitted on old guzzis) and can still be found new. This unit puts the bleeder and the line together at the top of the caliper which would probably work best with the OEM line. I couldnt resist a good deal though and got one with the bleeder/line on opposite ends. The caliper works fine and should be easy and cheap to service. Also, the P32G might be a viable option. 2mm spacers to make up the difference in mounting boss thickness: lower mounting changes position of brake line. a shorter line would work: calipers side by side:

what is the plus of doing this besides that you can rebuild it? also i looked up p32f 07bb0111 and some show they fit a ducati another says fits yamaha another says fits moto guzi. how do you know what one it is if they have these same part numbers? |

As you mentioned, rebuildable. Also, cheaper new than the comparable nissin product. As far as differentiating, there is usually a schematic associated with the part so you can go by that. The actual brembo part number for the 07bb0111 is 20516171. Dig around here |

Zecca: not quite. I believe that is a Brembo p/n 20695122. That one inputs/outputs on a horizontal plane. It would be a touch easier to attach the Buell brake line to but might make bleeding interesting. Jake: Not really. |

Nice one Smoke4ndmears, I see that you had to space out the calliper as I had to. The calliper with the bleed nipple on top would definately be better than my original solution but I bleed the brakes with the caliper off the bike anyway so its not much of an issue for me - Well Done. The advantage of the Brembo calliper is that it is much cheaper than OEM here in the UK and that you can get rebuild kits and easily available replacement pads - try that with the Nissin over here. I did use a Brembo goldline calliper (just looks a but more trick) (Message edited by Dirty_john on February 28, 2012) (Message edited by Dirty_john on February 28, 2012) |
