What kind of gains would you see from http://crowerperformance.com/i-5912878-buell- ... ? problems running the engine too lean? thoughts? next question.....would you have to play with the ignition map if you changed to these cams?? Stock valves and springs?? Sound off... |

Says they work with stock springs, and with an EBR ecm should be good. |

I wonder how big the "bigger" power gains are? |

Pistons wouldn't need to be changed. I'd love to see a dyno sheet of an 1125 with these cams. $596 (price for the cams provided you trade in your old cams) is pretty reasonable, especially if these cams make better power through most of the rev range. They don't sound radically different than stock--I'd expect about a 5hp gain peak, with a modest increase in torque. Not that I'm an engine performance tuner though. |

just slapping them in the gains would be very small probably unnoticed. but with a bump in c/r some flow work an exhaust and a properly calibrated ecm all working together............... |

How does a company reuse the 'core' camshafts? |

THX Boogiman1981. Welding seemed like the only answer but I wasn't sure. |

been going on for as long as i can remember esp with low production number cams or obsolete cams it's pretty much the only way to go. as long as they aren't cracked anywhere they can be welded up and reground. it does of course get to a cost/benefit break point. but 6 bills for hot rod cams doesn't seem bad being as though they are the only thing going that i know of. crane makes cams for the 1190 but they are listed in the catalog i downloaded recently. |

Usually they cores are reground using a smaller base circle. This usually they come with bigger shims, or buckets depending on the application and OEM parts that are available. |
