Case goes to court on 2/17/12. They want to see her in the in the shop on the 10th to look at it. I guess they wanna make sure the bike ain't totaled or something like that. I love this bike. Full price it would have cost just under 19k (rough guess) with tax tags extended Warrenty til 2014. Kelly blue says $6,205. Don't want them to say here the 10k back. Pay off your loan and walk with 5 or 6 maybe 7k if they include towing but what would that get me??? Anyone wanna chime in??? By the way it's had about 9K in Warrenty work. ('09 1125r)since 2010 to now. And 5 or 6 months in shop total. |

If you love it so much why Lemon Law? You should have thought about all that crap before you started your case. You're gonna lose a good bike. On the bright side...Everything is replaceable |

About 4 stators 5 VR's 1 INstr. cluster. 1 ignition switch 1 fuel pump. And about 8 tows there and back plus a few more I can't remember. Lemon law because of 5-6 month of down time. While everyone else is riding. Lemon law because of 9k in repairs. When my Warrenty is over I can't afford 9k in repairs. Every 2 years. I'm not that rich I know it's a great bike but it's like being married to a beautiful woman that doesn't cook or clean |

There is nothing that says you can't settle the case and then buy another. I have one for sale if you'd like. Mine has been well-behaved for the last 10k+ and even recently completed a 2600 mile adventure. ac |

If the "FIX" was available when I started my lemon case I would have never started my lemon case. I would have kept hope alive... The funny part is I want a comparable bike value for value not cost for cost. I know HD IS GONNA THINK IM SMOKING CRACK but they gotta replace my baby with something on the same level (BMW S1000rr, KTM, DUCATI 1198 or what ever). Hey we can all dream right??? |

I went to HD for assistance for stator warranty extension, at first they said no, then I filed the lemon law paper work and contacted HD back, we work out a deal, I got a 4year warranty on the whole bike. They don't want to go to arbitration, they don't want to buy you a bike. It worked out well for me, they have had to put two stators in under the extended warranty so far. |

So no chance of them buying me a new bike. Huh??? Ok fine I'll put Tha Crack Pipe down. Maybe they'll give me the "FIX" aka the EBR STATOR. They (HD) sold me an incomplete motorcycle. There was never an '09 clutch made for our bike. Clutches are important!!! (ROTFL) and not much of a stator also. |

Sounds like a win-win to me. Either sell the bike, or buy the EBR stator kit and most of your issues will be gone for good. |

Chris. Filed in PA. Timebandit that's personal!!! how dare you ask me such a personal question!!! Why I've never been more insulted in all my life...$1,650.00. When you add the cents it feels like much more lol Froggy yes win win loose. If you have the harness, with a working relay, properly installed, you should be able to just ride. Enjoy the bike 5k rpm + with normal electrical loads (save the heated gear for a Road King) and you should be fine. ac |

Personally if i could get a decent buck on selling or trading mine would be gone. Can trust it. Fixing it is throwing good money after bad. 1650 + 5k (IF you could get it) = win win for me. In Canada we cant get ANYTHING for the bikes. Try and trade them on something and they walk away laughing. Not even a HD will touch them. |

Timebandit's response in case he gets "soft" and Courts it: ""we can't get ANYTHING for the bikes." You can thank the BadWeB community for that. The community asked for it, the community got it. We killed our own resale values in four steps. The first step in killing resale value happened because a select band of dummies with no engineering knowledge went shooting off their mouths about the stator problem, and proceeded to make bullshit claims that HD's harness upgrade doesn't work. This FUD didn't help your bike's resale value. The second step occurred when everyone pissed and moaned about how H-D abandoned all the Buell owners and left them holding the bag with a crappy design that couldn't be fixed. The third step occurred when BadWeB amplified the world's perception of the problem; when users pissed and moaned, a forum was created where everyone could piss and moan in harmony about the electrical system. Everyone shot themselves in the foot by destroying their bike's reputation, and in turn by destroying their bikes' resale value. The fourth step occurred when a band of good-intentioned users who were totally ignorant of electrical engineering principles disseminated disinformation claiming that users should REMOVE the wiring harness upgrade. That was PURE FUD, and it torpedoed the resale value of everyone's bikes by creating the perception that the bike's problem could not be fixed. The result is that the motorcycle world perceives this bike to be a lemon -- a design failure -- that is plagued by a problem that cannot be fixed. The bike is perceived as unreliable by the market and nobody wants to buy it. The result is that everyone who owns one loses equity and resale value. Nice going, Ace. Now we're faced with a problem where the value of the bikes has been unfairly depressed by the spread of disinformation by electrical idiots. The truth is that the charging harness repair DOES fix the problem. It's been explained in the stator threads that the 3-phasing harness update DOES work to protect the stator. People with the harness update are getting 10,000+ miles out of stators after the updates, while guys without the harness keep having stators fail. The truth is that if you get the harness update and ride the bike like it was designed to be ridden, the problems go away. The truth is that these bikes are a lot more reliable than people have represented them to be. There are solutions available that render the bikes totally reliable (*FREE* H-D harness update, EBR 2008-style charging system), in addition to new / better solutions that will hopefully soon come to market. I honestly think that the resale situation would be a hell of a lot better if owners who didn't understand the principles of electrical engineering offered by H-D would just learn to STFU. Unfortunately, the guy with the least knowledge and the loudest voice often gets the most attention. It's no wonder that resale values are depressed. It's no wonder that the guys at EBR view this site as a source of wrong information. Like every internet site that lacks peer review, every user has an equally loud voice, regardless of whether opinions are backed up by knowledge or not." AMEN. My bike has been stone-cold reliable from ~4500 miles on to 15k miles currently. I had plenty of issues up front (clutch weep/stator). MOST of my problems were caused by dealer mistakes (improper harness install, improper parts for clutch weep). Once I had the most current clutch weep components and a brand new stator on a properly installed harness I have stayed away from the dealers for 10k+ miles. I took my bike for a 2600 mile journey to prove reliability to myself. I'd leave for another one tomorrow if someone asked me to in full confidence. A "fire sale" at $6k really dropped the bar for these bikes. They seem to be worth $5000-5500. Losing ONLY 10-15% in 2 years is pretty darn GOOD for resale value compared to most other bikes... ac |

"Hey ratgin how many miles on yours???" 6000 KMs.(3700miles) So far, stator. vr, crankcase vent.. much smoke and heat. Burnt me through riding pants. rear shock went. clutch somehow got air in lines and decided to stop working, refuses to start when hot, floods itself, runs like crap, throws sensor codes for damn near everything. If it was remotely reliable id keep it but its not and id like to be able to ride my bike beyond where i can walk home. |

> Timebandit's response in case he gets "soft" and Courts it: ... so you're telling everyone that you think Court is soft??? the whole point of being able to delete a post is to be able to retract something that was said in a fit of passion, when viewed under the light of better judgement. the forum's administrators designed the board to work the way it does for a reason, and by denying someone the opportunity to retract a statement, you undermine the system's design. not to mention pissing someone off. it makes them want to call you a dick. if nothing else, you've now given me plausable deniability. |

AVC "The truth is that the charging harness repair DOES fix the problem" My harness was changed at 600 miles and went bad by 1500 miles. Since it fails with next to no warning (in my case)and there is no hope on getting home i have little trust in it atm. " "fire sale" at $6k really dropped the bar for these bikes" We didnt have a fire sale our bikes cost 10,500. Now i can get at MOST 3k on a trade in. |

Ok, enough tongue in cheek. I said what AC says I said, and I deleted that post just to mess with him. Putting it all in perspective, having depressed resale prices isn't ALL bad: i helped a friend buy a mint-condition 2009 1125R on Saturday. it had 3400 miles, was in flawless condition, and it only cost him $4700! he never would have been able to buy so much bike for so little money if it hadn't been for the stupidity of people on the internet. he would like to thank everyone for depressing the market value of used bikes. it was the only way he could get such a great deal, having missed-out on the fire sale. AC is right -- the fire-sale prices were great -- people who bought at the fire sale could keep the bike for a couple of years and then sell it, getting most of their money back. lots of people who weren't a good "fit" for this bike bought one solely because of it's price. i think some of those people were some of the most vocal complainers. people who bought the bikes and rode them like they were meant to be ridden (fast and hard) aren't the guys who were complaining. right now, people are dumping bikes that have no warranty out of fear. fear-based sales don't bring top dollar. |

Just an outsiders view here... Had I ever wanted an 1125, my opinion would only have been changed a little by the whole stator thing. I would have simply priced in the cost of a EBR rotor and stator kit into what I expected my acquisition costs for the 1125 to be. So at worst, all the drama here would have just beat up resale value by $1k or so. So at worst that issue made a $10,000 bike a $9,000 bike. Here is what *really* killed you (in order of the size of it's impact).... 1) You bought a new sportbike, but want to sell a used sportbike. Surprise! You should have expected a $3000+ drop by just driving off the lot. That's about par for the course for any sportbike... 2) You bought a new bike for $10,000, and your manufacturer started selling that exact same bike for $5000 in quantity shortly there after. That was an *instant* $5000 depreciation. You were *&*&^%^ all right, but you were &*&^%^ by Harley Davidson. Ironically, as Harley Davidson *&^&*ings go, you got off light. 3) You bought a new bike from a talented and innovative motorcycle company dedicated to giving you great support. Unfortunately, Harley Davidson took that company, shot it in the back like the cowards they are, and replaced them with a group of people that had already decided you were an idiot 10 years ago. You don't derive value from a sportbike by selling it, you derive value from riding it hard and wringing every ounce of pleasure from it. I pretty much hate the riding positions of both 1125's, so I wouldn't have one. But that being said, I rode one once at Mid Ohio (I would say in anger, but it was actually fear ), and I would have ***no*** problem getting $10,000 of happiness out of an 1125R over 10 years. So not only did your bike not depreciate more than the cost of the EBR stator fix... parts got *dirt* cheap as people are now just parting out 1125's on ebay all day long. (IMHO... not trying to be insensitive, just offering an outsiders opinion) (Message edited by reepicheep on February 08, 2012) |

I'm a dick :-) I only quoted it and pasted it because it is truth and I was rushing to post it but you beat me to it. I was scared you would change your mind and edit it to nothing. It is pretty obvious if the harness is NOT working. If you bike charges between 2k and 4500 rpm...your harness is "failed". Really this shouldn't even matter...just ride the darn thing in the power! 5k+ ac |

> "I'm a dick." Dickness notwithstanding, it's obvious that great minds think alike. Do you really think that I have such a great fear of being politically incorrect?!? I have no fear of making people PO'd. But sometimes I do have to go back and retract things that in retrospect might be too close for comfort on an NDA. I'd appreciate it if you don't quote things that might need to be retracted if I make a misteak and speak out of place. As far as used prices go, yes the reason that prices are depressed is multi-factoral. I can't fault the guys who paid full retail for being pissed after the $5,000 body-slam. They got screwed. But it's not as if all the whiners got screwed. IMO everyone who bought at the fire sale has nothing to complain about. Buying at the fire sale was a calculated risk that people decided to take. Nobody forced them into the transaction. If somebody takes a calculated risk and it turns out bad, too bad for them. It's not anyone else's problem. I have to laugh at people who bought the bike for peanuts and are complaining that they don't like what they bought. They took a risk, and they took their chances. Sometimes when you do that you don't get a good outcome. That's what risk is all about. Every whiner who bought at the fire sale needs to man-up and quit whining. Whining after the fire sale makes someone look like a cheepskate wussy who wants to blame someone else for his bad decision. I bought a bike at the fire sale for peanuts, assuming the risk that the bike could have problems that wouldn't ever get fixed because of the BMC closure. I took a calculated risk. I understood the risk and I took it because I thought the bike was worth every penny of $5500, no matter how bad the outcome might be. I'd have a great performing bike that I could beat the hell out of for two years without worrying about out-of-pocket repairs. Riding an uber-bike for $2750 a year is cheap. According to my calculations, I'd still come out ahead even if the bike ended up being worthless after 24 months. I thought that was a pretty good deal. For those people who weren't willing to assume that level of risk, H-D offered the extended warranty program. What's there to complain about??? What amazes me is that people can buy a $13,000 bike at a H-D closeout sale for $5,500, and then piss and moan that it requires a $895 investment in a charging system kit to keep it going. I mean, WTF?!? You took a risk. Deal with it. This whole situation makes me think everyone who is complaining is a cheepskate who does't belong on this bike in the first place. It's time to man-up and quit whining. We all know that you don't make money buying sportbikes -- you lose it. |
