Hey guys, as the subject line says, my iat read 160 degrees on the way to work today. I immediately turned around and took her home. The bike was backfiring like a sun of a gun on downshifts. Engine temp was from 160 to 180 degrees, so not overheating. I let the bike cool down for about 20 minutes and the sensor still read about 140.

What do you guys think? I was thinking bad sensor or possibly a dirty sensor.

Thanks
Mike

You can try cleaning it to see if it changes, but you likely will need to replace it.

If the IAT was truely 160, I would imagine the engine CT would be in the 200's, i would say the sensor is not reading correctly.

I have had the same issue... And have no idea what it might be either. Interested to see what people might say. Froggy.... Where might be the best place to source the sensor?

It is available at any Buell dealer, will set you back about $12.

Well I took the iat sensor off of my x1 and tried it out on the 1125 and everything is back to normal. Woohoo! Now I just need to buy another sensor to put back on the x1. I'm glad that they are interchangeable.

Thanks for the help guys,
Mike
