OK so to make this read as understandable as possible this is my issue. *Received my new seat and Seat Retention kit from American Sport Bike couple days ago. *Last night I read the instructions and attempted to install the pin screws into the 1125r frame. * the left side screw only went in id say 1/3-1/4 of the screw. Secured the "washer or jam nut" and it seems to be pretty secure. *Left side went in same amount and seemed to be secure. *When I went to put seat on, I had major difficulty as the nuts seemd to be not in line with the holes on the seat tabs. I finally got it to work. * Called it a night * Today I took the seat off and the right side nut came out and fell into the shock area. *Retrieved the screw and now it will only go in like 1 turn. OK so now that my issue is diagnosed I was thinking I'll just get some loctite tomorrow or something. (Does LOWES sell?) However, i'm concered if I use Loctite or another sealant and the bolts are still crooked, the seat will either not go on or will always be a B**** to put on. *If I use Loctite and the tabs do fit over, even if I have to force, will LOCTITE fix and finally secure the kit bolts? This has become a major headache. Long read. But I've read so much how everyone loves this kit. IDK if its just my holes are messed up, but the stock screws went in fine before I got the kit. |

It sounds like the sub frame nuts are cross threaded. I would tap the sub frame nuts. Just watch out, the subframe nuts can become loose and spin in the subframe. |

It does sound like you messed up the threads in the frame, and it's causing a misalignment Afterall, the stock screws went in, so we know the holes line up with the seat. No reason a pin shouldn't if it's straight Pull it apart, inspect threads, chase them with a tap if needed |

If I can get them alighned is it ok if they only go as far in as a few turns like the one in pic? If so should I add locktite to permantly secure it, If so which one? |

There are two different kits, metric for the 1125 and std for the firebolt. you may have the wrong ones. |

I just put this same kit on my bike twenty mins ago. Mine also would only hand thread in like two turns but i put a small Allen wrench through the hole and spun the stud down several threads with ease. For me it was just tough spinning the little studs with my fingers. |

Same for mine, extremely hard turning by hand, locked some vice grips on and away they went. |

+1 on having the right kit. If you try to put an XB kit on an 1125, it won't work. Compare threads. Hold one of your new studs against one of your factory screws. Do the threads match? If something came mis-packaged, I'm sure Al will make it right. If you ordered the wrong kit...go to the hardware store and pick up a tap and die kit and re-tap your subframe threads. And if you do this...DEFINITELY use loctite! |

Ok just determined I do have the right bolts. I'm going to go pick up some loctite after the gym in a couple hours. Then Im going to use the allen rench Idea. In my mind im thinking that should work. Because even if they get stuck or spin, the Loctite should seize them up no? |

If those studs are not screwed all the way down your seat will have a lot of up/down play at the back after you put the pin into the hole... also I used just lock tite and ditched the lock nut because the nut raised the back of the seat up off the subframe and looks odd... |

Got the bolts in a good amount. That allen wrench idea worked great. I used loctite as well. The stock seat fit perfect with little to no effort. The Saddlemen seat however still seemed that I could easily get one in, But the other one was still struggling, just off like 1-2mm. I didnt wanna force it to much while the loctite was drying. 2 ideas. Wait till tomorrow after it cures and just see about forcing it over the second one. Or Somehow enlarge one of the holes or both on the seat tabs of the saddlmen seat so theyll both fit over? (Might cause issue idk) I dont really get why the stock fit and the saddlemen is off. HEADACHE. |

I think you are over thinking the problem! My Saddlemen fits a bit tighter than the stock seat also but still goes on. If you open the hole on the seat just make sure you have a washer large enough on top of the hole so the seat can't be pulled off. |

Fio835, You shouldn't have to dremel anything. If the bolts only spin 1 turn, i don't think tha is enough to hold the seat on. Check for cross threading. |

FIXED! Earlier I had gotten the bolts in quite a ways with the help of using a small allen wrench through the pin hole as someone reccomended (THANK YOU!) and used locktite. I went to lowes and picked up a small grinding tip for like 4 bucks. simply grinded the hole open legit like 1mm if that and it slid right down! All Set! Thanks for all the help guys. Badweb is the best! |

Just fitted my Saddleman seat and the new seat retention kit...I am the most non mechanic person I know....it fitted like it should..the retention bolts went straight in and were easy to do by finger, the seat took a little wiggle and it fits like a glove. Tightened everything up and took off the seat and put it on again with no issues at all...maybe yours was crossthreaded? just my 2c worth |

I had the same issue, got another bolt with same thread and used it to check for burs/alignment etc. It seems that a job was dome on this part of the assembly. |

FIO, I had the same exact problem, just bought the track seat with the retention kit, it seems like the left side fits great but the right side is like 1-2mm off, so I kind of have to jam it in. But once it's in it works great. Love the seat. |

Get a dremel or another gridning tool and open the hole on the seat tab 1-2mm. Works perfect! |
