Hey guys. I'm trying to figure out what weight the stock fork and rear shock springs are rated for? Buying after market springs are a little tricky without know this. |

The stock springs are progressive rate. What do you weigh in gear? |

The rear spring is the same, the front is lighter. |

Andros - A couple of links that are of limited use. One note - 09 springs either are or are not different from 08 springs, depending on whether you are talking "early" 08 or "late" 08. Buell changed from a stiffer rate to a softer rate during the 2008 model year if I am not mistaken. I wasn't able to find both rates, so not sure which is which. You could try Tech [tech@ebracing.com] - they may be able to help. If so, please post. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/649721.html#POST2107075 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/650328.html#POST2115784 (Message edited by Stirz007 on January 16, 2012) |

The stock springs are .99 or 1.0 but feel like they are set up for a minimum 200 lb rider. As a ~162 pound rider, I could never get the right amount of sag and the front end response never felt right on the street or track. As a last resort, I had race tech .95's installed and the result was transformative! I am able to achieve proper front sag and the bike is awesome on the track. If you are a light rider, change the springs. Good luck, Phil |

I'm about 215 in riding gear, and for average less-than-perfect real world roads and adjusted close to no-preload the spring rate feels a little harsh in any event. Smooth roads feels good. I ride my V-Strom when I feel like being a pussy. |

Andros, not saying you didn't know how to, FYI race tech web site list the rating of stock 08-09 @0.99kg front and 9.0kg rear, listed in spring rate reference information. |
