Yikes. It's most of the weight of the bike. I had to use a crane to move mine.

The shipping weight is 212lbs, so that's a decently close guess.

dang More than I expected I thought it would be cool to make the worlds most powerful supermoto! using a aprilia sxv 5.5 chassis but its probably far to large! Hopefully Erik has a adventure bike in the works!

Not even close, Jd.

Just weighed a 2009 1125R motor on a Pelouze scale: 152.5 lbs with all water hoses still on it but no throttle bodies. Guess the throttle bodies weigh maybe 4 lbs (I didn't have them on hand) so probably about 157 lbs.

Still a lot heavier than the 550 I am sure!

Mine shipped with box and wood pallet right at 200, so I'd guess 'dry' weight with hoses, throttle bodies and wiring harness attached (incl. ECM, with an extra clutch assy thrown in - about 155-160(?)

Frame on this bike is only 22lbs. So the frame on the Aprilia better be lighter than that to be worth the hassle.

152 sounds much better lol Idk If you've checked out a aprilia sxv 5.5 but its pretty much the most bad ass supermoto ever!

I had an Aprilia SXV5.5. Yea, it's a class big dog, but it's also a cantankerous pain in the balls. The service regimen on the bike alone will break you, even if the cost of parts and the likelihood of popping a motor don't.

I was so glad to sell mine, and consider myself lucky not to have been dry raped by that bike.

And, yea, the frame on this bike is shockingly light. So is the swing arm. The motor is the frame, or at least part of it, so that's part of the reason why.

"that would make perfect sense... if you were going for heavier and slower..."

I was going for the look on the other racers faces rolling up to the line...

and them wanting to be real sure of not crashing right in front of you...

Mine may have been even earlier, and I know it had a replacement motor.

Oil changes alone were killing me.

$60 worth of motorex and a filter. Ride 1-2 hours TOPS, drain it and it was black as night.

Repeat, also replacing the $30 gear oil every other change.

Every 4th change, drop the motor and check the valves. Wow, out of spec again.

Hey, why is there coolant in my oil? Oh, seals, again.

Yikes.

I'm out on those.

yea like I said they were nightmares in their early years. I've heard some good out of the new ones but like you said motorex oil that often is crazy!!!!!
