A year a go I've been involved in an accident, so when I hit the ground I bend forward 1cm the right handle of the clubman handlebar. Near the soldering point can be seen a few lines of clear metal, very thin lines. So can be straightened or better find a new one? |

I think they're chromoly steel, not aluminum. So...with heat and patience, you should be able to straighten it. |

Give it a shot. If you mess up it's like $60 from Buell. ac |

They're aluminum. I've drilled the last section deeper to mount bar ends, and it wasn't steel I was drilling into. Toss 'em. Al |

I'm sure there's plenty of those bars out here with zero miles on them. Somebody will step up soon I'm sure. If they let loose while you're riding it will definitely get your attention... |

Metal gets weaker when you bend it. But it gets way, WAY weaker when you try to bend it back. Ever talk to somebody who's had a handlebar break off in their hand? It doesn't happen when you're just putting down the street; if it breaks, it'll happen at the worst possible moment.... Too much at risk. Buy a new one. |

And that's what I'm afraid, bend on brake! Anyone knows somebody to sell a clubman? (Message edited by Ros on January 13, 2012) |
