hello all, I hope everyone's holiday season is doing great! I think I broke my right mirror on my CR while doing the valve adjustment. I ran into it, and now it's really loose. Does anyone know if there is a way to take apart the mirror to tighten or repair the mount. Thank in advance for any help (Message edited by craigsmoney on December 30, 2011) |

Do you mean the mirror head ( where the glass and indicator is ) or where it mounts to the bike ? If it's the head then the glass has to come off, search the archive for the 1125R mirror because somebody posted something previously about taking the mirror apart. If it's where it mounts to the bars then use a torx wrench to tighten it up - if the stem is loose then it is bolted underneath to the offset arm fitting, so a spanner should tighten it up again. Pretty sure the head is the same for R and CR. If so, it's no problem to open up, just a saucepan and some patience. Put the head in boiling water for a minute or so and start SLOWLY peeling the glass off. The glass is very thin so go slow, I broke the first one I did. When it starts to get hard to peel, stick it back in the boiling water. Once you get the glass off, the rest is obvious. Zack |

Thanks Zac. I do have to tell you I had a laugh when said all you need is a sauce pan and patience. I thought you were going to tell me to smash it. LOL. Thanks for the tip though, I'll try it in the new year. Does this process wreck the led light? Happy newyear all. |

Wow, so I guess you have to be really patient to get that glass off. I put it in the water, and it started to dis-color the plastic, so I got my heat gun out. That seemed to work well after the it broke. Then I got is all apart and saw that the plastic housing is broken where it gets mounted to the metal arm. A new one is only $110 bucks, so I ordered it. Thanks for your help |
