Just a quick question. I noticed a small patch of fluid had leaked from my right front fork (1125R), it was greeny in colour. There are no visible signs of leaks and before I send a fortune taking it into the shop was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what the cause may be. I did notice some oil on the forks, maybe an excessive amount?

Maybe figure out where it's coming from before spending large coin. Could be a loose fitting. In any case, for a little money ($200) you can buy all the tools you will need to do a rebuild yourself (better yet, maybe you can borrow a spring compressor and seal driver) New seals aren't very expensive and it takes an hour or two to do a rebuild once you get the forks off the bike. Good luck.

Fork seal - yes, cheap and quick fix. Anybody that is doing Showa forks will be able to do it quick (if you bring your forks unmounted). IF you have a spring compression tool (or rig one up) it is really pretty easy to change the o-rings and the dust seal.

green? are you sure it was fork oil, not someone's car radiator coolant?

check to make sure that you in-fact have an oil leak by bouncing the suspension a few times and wiping the exposed smooth fork leg. if you get any oil, that confirms your suspicions.

don't let any oil get on to your brakes!!!!!
if you have a leak, i would not reccomend you ride it anywhere.

almost anyone can re-build your forks. even you can with the manual and the right tools.

and the right fork tube seems to be the most common to develop a leak;
probably because braking forces are transmitted from the caliper directly to that fork leg, seals and bushings EVERY time you stop.

Yep, just wiped and check it again. There is plenty of oil there. Don't really have room to pull the forks of, but a shop near by will do it for me and not charge a fortune. I've got the hi-bars on currently but think i might swich back to the clip ons while the thing is in bits! Not good timing as my keda RT 3 and ecu are set to arrive either today or tomorrow!

How many miles since the forks were last serviced?

the manual wants forks with 1st service at 12,000Kmi? Has the bike been in any sort of severe duty?
