I have my cr in for a stator and regulator. I brought it in with just 3 days left on the factory warr. Lucky I guess, now to the question. I shut my bike off and coast in the last few hundred feet to the driveway to keep the noise down. When I do I hear a click at every front wheel rotation. The HD tech said it was the "full floating rotor". Yeah right. I bet it's the bearings but how do I make sure so if they are bad I can get them replaced? |

The tech is likely right. Can you make it go away or change by varying brake pressure? Look at the drive bushings in the mounting set up... Are they twisted in the rotor? |

Yeah it does go away with a decent amount of pressure. |

You need new rotor mount hardware, and possibly a new rotor if you have let it go too long. Go ahead and pull your rotor and take a look at the bearing edges. If you are getting shear, replace rotor and hardware, if just the drive bushings are worn, then just new hardware. I'd use the EBR kit.. it's less prone to drive bushing wear and there are other benefits, but your wheel needs to be more true than spec. |

Sit on the bike (not running) hold the front brake and rock forward and back. If you hear the same clicking noise its likely a worn rotor or rotor mount bushings. G |

Would this be normal wear or would the mounting kit be a warranty item? Bike has 12,000 miles and although I have a honda for a trackbike I do brake fairly aggressive on the street. The rotor isn't discolored very much but I will have to look at the mounts once disassembled. |

technically speaking normal wear if you've got a nice dealer they might fix it warranty |

I am not sure that is it, I got the same thing and talked to many people, I am quite sure it is the fork and nothing to worry about, some say if you change fork oil it will get better or go away. Erb told. E the same thing... |

I had my rotor replaced under warranty but I sprung for the mounting hardware out of pocket. If you have the ESP the rotor is covered. The SM called it in and was told to replace it under warranty. Mine had gotten warped or had hot spots or something that made it unsafe. Made the front wheel feel like it was square when I hauled the bike down under hard breaking at any speed. > had hot spots or something that made it unsafe. Deposits, likely. Post a picture of your old rotor. |

Already did...you helped me out too. Doesn't look that bad but it pulsates like a green monkey dick in full heat when I grab the binders. Seems to happen about every 15K miles. I tried cleaning it and even surfacing it and that was a waste of time. New rotor and hardware and the problem was solved instantly. |

... but it will likely come back, unfortunately. Usually that "spotted" look happens on rotors that aren't getting hot enough to really wear the pads significantly. If you move to a softer pad, it may help. |

I agree. I have always used the factory pads. |
