Not sure how fast they'll sell out of these, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than OEM parts from HD. Looks like this comes with the rotor and stator and is based on the 08 version, so it's the lower output style. http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/parts-accesso ries/powertrain/moderate-output-low-heat-alternato r-kit.html |

It appears to be the same kit they offered before the website redesign. |

That must be the new announcement we've been waiting for on 11/01/11! Now if I could just convince my dealer to go halves on one of these when the current stator goes up-in-smoke... |

I only say sell out based on what happened with the clutch slave they have for $99. Sold out within hours I think, until the next batch came in. Based on the number of reported failing stators, I can see the same thing happening with these. |

Wonder what the output is? That is a lot of new parts for $895. |

Thinking about just biting the bullet and buying it. I haven't had any problems yet- but I know I'm on borrowed time. It sure would make my rides a lot more enjoyable if I wasn't constantly worrying about what's going on with my charging system. |

These should be very popular! If/when mine goes out again, I will be buying this set up as well. Quite a deal compared to the pricing that HD Dealers want. Thanks Erik! |

Does this mean we can take our bikes on a cross country trip without worry?! I'm all in when mine fails and will no longer consider the ext warranty. (Message edited by snackbar64 on November 04, 2011) |

This is awesome...... But 1) why the cover? is it not just and '08 setup? If it is an '08 (it sure looks like one) it should fit into an '09, '10 cover no problem 3) If it is not an '08 what is the output? Is this okay for street type riding.... what if you do a couple quick start stops? dead battery? 4) I know, I know.... I should shut up and be happy. Dont get me wrong, I am happy EBR is there for us. REALLY happy. After so many failures I want a fix as well. I just dont want new problems todd |

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. It was an opportunity to order that crankshaft locking tool too. And a new oil filter. I'll post-up as soon as I get info on the output wattage. I am just taking it on faith that it is going to be the answer. I just get tingly all over when I can spend $1000 with a few key strokes and mouse clicks... |

While I really do appreciate that there is a real answer available to fix the design flaw in the brand new bike I purchased I am not going to get excited at having to spend $900 of MY money to correct that flaw. Add postage, UK vat and import charges to that price and quite frankly, I can not afford that. Now if HD would do the right thing... Incidentally I priced up a set of front brake pads today from HD in UK. £138, that's about $221. Go on line and EBC pads are available for £37, about $59. Which do you think will be fitted. |

That's kinda right. Buell was responsible for that flaw. Now he offers a solution, but he charges money for it. On the other hand, he charges much less than HD. Not sure how much money Ebr will earn on this fix, but of course they will be not at loss. |

We have a real fix great No Whining I have tubers. When Erik had the ability to Buell did recalls on swing arms shocks paint etc. The only MC company to ever do that. There may be others but none I owned . Honda during this time period had a frame crackimg problem on the vaunted Gold Wing Solution they told you visit a local welder and have him add a few passes. EBR doesnt have the legal standing nor resources to send every one a stator set up. Be glad he came up with real fix No Whining if you want to whine Ride a Beemer or Harley |

I believe Erik Buell has yet again demonstrated his commitment to do the right thing. Kudos Erik in a big, big way! From the EBR site: EBR's 1125 charging system solution for track day enthusiasts, and racing. This comprehensive kit includes rotor, stator, and outer cover. We have found the ’09-’10 1125 charging system provides excess current required for racing duty, in addition to an unnecessary heat load into the oil at high rpms. This system puts out less peak wattage, and the breakeven point is slightly higher. This benefits you by reducing the parasitic losses, and thermal load out of the charging system. An excellent upgrade for your late model 1125! There is no mention of improved durability in low rpm, stop and go city driving. This could well be careful wording from the legal department to avoid acknowledgement of a problem and hence liability and is really a wink at the actual purpose which we all hope is a reliable solution to the fragile OEM charging system. I suspect the reason there is a new outer cover included in the kit is that it likely has improved oil passages around the stator and consequently improved cooling. Total conjecture on my part. It'd be great to see side by side pictures to compare. Is there is a way to confirm these assumptions (and to obtain wattage figures for the new kit) through back channels? |
