Who has heated grips or guards on there 1125? And what kind and where to buy. I'm moving from Lake Elsinore in So Cal up to Reno,Nv and will be working in susanville,ca. I still want to ride but need something that'll keep me from freezing to death on my 80 mile one way trip into work. Also any special things I need to know or get to ride my bike in snow or ice patched roads? I've always lived in the south. Originally from Houston,Tx so I've only driven in snow once while in Utah but that was the interstate and the roads were clear so really no experience driving in snow/sleet/ice. I used to ride a CB650 all year in Michigan Never wiped except the last 2 mph in the parking lot, where I'd lock up and go down on occasion Basically, what you'd expect - less traction, have to watch for "black ice", careful on the brakes.......etc... | ||

I routinely ride through the winter here in Maryland as long as there is no ice. How cold are you guys getting the 1125s to start? Mine gets really cranky below about 20F, and around 15F is a royal ***** to start. I'm planning to get a new battery this winter, since the XB9 is set up for my gf. | ||

i have the heated grips similiar to the ones american sportbike sells. not the factory ones. they work well enough and there is a high and low setting. they do take the edge off but when it got really cold the other night into the 30's only my palms and inside fingers stayed warm. i would look into heated gloves if you plan to be below freezing and riding. | ||

I use the factory heated grips, and a Widder heated vest with sleeves, and heated pants. Keeping your core warm is vital to staying comfortable when riding in cold weather. No issues starting my 1125 in cold weather as long as my stator is working.  but my bike lives on a trickle charger since it's an '09. | ||

I had the Buell heated grips, and I had the local BMW dealer install an accessory socket on the bike so I could plug in my heated clothing. As long as the roads were clear, I ride. Snow and ice, I leave the bike in the garage. I've ridden in temperatures down in the single digits... never "negative" though (unless Celsius counts). | ||

The Buell OEM heated grips, while expensive, work fantastic. Heated suit is a must here in NY. Avoid snow and ice at all costs, the 1125 doesn't do great in them. You have to relearn how to ride when its snowing, and I doubt it will happen enough for you to master it. |
