I have great news fellas!! I took my bike (that's been out of warranty for a year now) down to AD Farrow to have my stator looked at they are going to warranty the bike!! Supposedly they have a revised stator they are going to put it They are going to charge me $100 for everything. They did mention that Harley said keeping the bike under 5k rpm's for a prolonged amount of time is whats killing the stators.I'm assuming its not circulating enough oil I know its a bull shit issue but the did say my bikes electrical issue would remain under warranty until this issue is fixed! I will keep you all posted |

New stators have always been around $679. I am curious as to this "new part", as this isn't the first time it has been mentioned, and every time it has been mentioned it was just the dealer misinforming the customer, just telling them what they want to hear. |

Brumbear is right. Your lucky its only costing you HD (hundred dollar) Mine was just replaced for the second time with same part number and watt output along with R/R and all wiring. |

Ask if you (or they) would take a picture of the stator before they install it... and a pic of your old one too. It would be interesting to compare pictures of the "new" stator with the old one. |

George, When it happens again and it probably will, ask very nicely if they will downgrade you to the "08" spec. If the dealer says no, call HD customer service and very nicely ask to downgrade. HD will do goodwill and dealers (at least good ones ) have a "coop" budget to satisfy customers concerns out of warrantee. It's been known to work.Bob |

George, You said they they where going to install a "revised" stator, not an "08". If the bike is still in the shop ask them to call tech service to authorize the downgrade, if they say no call customer service and NICELY tell them your situation and what you want. Worked for me on my third time around. Good luck,Bob |

Just had mine installed with the new above part number stator, 5 day turn around for a stator is good in my book, especially for a Buell problem part, so except for start up - which is 12.7 and slowly climbing - around 3 minutes - then the bike stayed between 13.5 and 13.7 - fine by my book - we'll see. Can you double check that? That isn't a valid part number, and it has the XB12XT model code. |

Dont remind me!!!! No worries though Harley says keep it above 5k rpms and you'll be all good. No big deal I'll just drive 45 mph through 20 mph schools and explain to officers that Harley told me I had to! Im sure it will go over great! |

Goerge the one that only went 2500 miles 1500 of those were 79 mph in 6th gear highway ride nc-mi and mi-nc so...... That's bs as well I even cut it off at most long stop lights. As much as I loved this bike I'm going to try and trade it off. I could sink another 800 in a used 08 setup but it's seems I am just bailing water on a sinking ship with a huge gash in the side |

I'm determined to burn this stator up before snow flies heavy and I'll do it keeping the bike above 5k rpm's! It will be a challenge since I live in Ohio but after that I'm demanding a 08 setup or HD can go screw themselves. Me and my dad have no problem swtiching to another brand as long as its not japanese! |

Good luck. Looks like I'm headed to a rice bike. I tried that demand and got nowhere. Even after they overnighted to 09 stator cause it broke 700 miles from home |

I'm hoping the 100k spent in the last 2.5 years will have some affect. If it doesn't I'll make sure I don't support that pathetic excuse for a "Great motorcycle company" |

The problem is there are less than 9000 of us worldwide and the bike says Buell on the air box not Harley, the 2008's don't have the problem which reduces that number so HD are not interested in us, compared with the number of bikes HD sells and the potential lost sales we are totally insignificant. I really love the Sportsters but I will not be buying another one. Will anyone at HD care? of course not. |

Alright I picked up my baby yesterday and put about 150 miles on her! Im doing my best to keep it above 5k rpms at all times that means no sixth gear on the highway until around 80 mph. Which is strange because leaving it in fifth resembles the 2009 vrod I had! The part that sucks is in cities. I was in columbus and driving down town at 5k rpm's is loud as hell! But I rode it to work today in the rain only because I believe it will pop this stator even if I do keep it above 5k rpms! |
