Hello all, I recently got the 2008 1125R in the picture and so far it is making me very happy. I am glad to notice a large community of fellow owners that are very supportive of each other. Even though just checking the oil level on the bike was an adventure and it did spray gasoline the first night I let her sleep inside the house (I didn't know about the gasoline overflow quirk) it is "special" traits like these that make the ownership of such bikes interesting and worthwhile. Ride on and be safe. [IMG] |

I've had mine less than a year. my only gas overflow was when I didn't have the vent tube fully seated into the channel on the airbox it goes in much further with a little lube on it I don't find the oil check any worse than any modern bike, which means it's not good. The mirrors stick. Otherwise, I'm loving it! (Message edited by sprintst on October 19, 2011) |

whoever posted the idea of putting silicone rtv around the mirror to stop the vibes, holy cow! awesome! no more pulling the clutch in to see whats behind me. now i can actually make out the color AND what kind of vehicle is back there! no matter what the rpm's are my mirrors are smooth. woo hoo!!. That was not my post. It helped a lot on my 1125R highly recommended That was not my post. It helped a lot on my 1125R |

Welcome to the fold. I have an '08 that I bought new after the announcement. She is still bone stock and I have really enjoyed the 9k miles I have put on her. Mine pisses fuel on a regular basis when the ambient temp is high. I am now going to try inserting the tube in deeper on the airbox. The RTV advice seems like another good fix to invoke. My own words of wisdom include the following. Be prepared for the bike to stand up a bit under hard braking, this almost bit me day two of my ownership. Do at least one track day as you will never fully appreciate the capabilities of this bike without one, and it will greatly increase your own capabilities on the street. Only use the hot oil check procedure, the cold check will cause you to overfill and was rescinded from the manual by Buell. If you need service from a HD Dealer, try to confirm that they are Buell friendly. Expect 4-5k out of your rear tire and about twice that out of your front for typical street riding...enjoy! |

Thanks for all the useful info. I did notice that the rear break needs some serious adjusting to keep the bike in line under hard braking. The front suspension stock settings seem very soft also and I will NEED a track day (or two) to get it right for my weight and needs. I did an oil change as soon as I got the bike as much for knowing how much oil was in there as well as to be safe since it only had 100 miles on it but the same oil was sitting in there since 2008. I am attaching a picture of the left drain plug with a silver paste on it which I am guessing it is metallic particles from the engine break-in.

Clk92vette - lube the tube! I used spit, and it slipped right in. Dry, I was pushing it in for everything I was worth and it wasn't actually in 0300 - under hard braking, your rear is basically meaningless, since the back end is so light or off the ground |

0300 - that's the break in material. break in has been covered 1000x, but i personally switched my oil out around 50 miles in with hard riding (keeping under break in rev limit) to flush out those shavings. Nice pic - good luck w/ your new bike! |
