First, when one of the legs fails you will be left with one leg only. You will mention this looking at voltage indicator, and fans kick in, the voltage will drop from 13.5-14.3 volts down to 12-12.8. Also the right fan will start to engage later. First fan will engage at 171F, and the second one, instead of 183F will engage at 197F. This is with the stock ECM. With Ebr ECM it will be different. |

When the yellow check engine light comes on and volts are low you have to head home or the dealer, failure is imminent. |

my bike was starting to drop to 12 volts in traffic and kick the light on when then I rev it or get out of traffic and the light turns off and voltage comes up but my bike never did this before and I have had the FIX in for 7K miles. So I popped off the fix and so far the stator has been charging 14.1 volts constant. I have not gone far though this weekend is the Headless horseman so it'll be a 3 to 400 mile day with varying traffic situations so we will see. |

Brumbear- "So I popped off the fix and so far the stator has been charging 14.1 volts constant" I am not charging quite that high but the bike sure got better without the harness. Some of the threads suggest this is a harness relay issue. |

Brumbear..I had the same symptoms ... Bad phase cut relay was the cause |

Wow, After all this time I finally get it! Heat kills the stator. The fix lowers the heat on the stator. So disconnect the harness that lowers the heat on the stator to get a longer stator life. Who woulda thunk it? |

@Black - The street response to battery lights coming on, the bike not getting enough voltage and running like poop is to disconnect the harness and 3.4 quarts of oil. To me this decision became a quantity or quality of service life argument. |

two things happened that never did before about a hundred or so miles before my stator died. 1-i pulled my clutch lever in and the bike stalled. 2-while cruising at steady 60 mph the engine hick-upped, like the ignition was turned off then back on instantly. coincidence or not, i don't know. all i know is that it never did that the first 7,000 miles of riding it. |

Well dudes, I do almost the same thing every day WITH the harness installed....to be truthful....I only did 150 miles today....one third stop and go.... in the city. Maybe that removal of the harness thing will decrease the temperature by heating everything up. Good luck! |

The problem is I don't ride in traffic often and when I do the damn light comes on it was starting to happen even at lights last time out and a more than a few times this season. With the fix out it will run hotter but charge constant I really don't care when it goes it goes. I am out of warranty anyway as of Thursday and I aint letting H-D touch my bike anyway. I am gonna look into an 08 set up over the winter and be done with the problem. |

I would recommend that if you are out of warranty on Thursday, that you get that bike in to a dealership on Monday and at least document your issues before the warranty expires. You will only be out a little time. Good luck! |
