Found an article today about the release of the 2008 1125R: http://www.motorsports-network.com/buell/firebolt. htm In the article they say, "All major components of the Helicon engine are unique to Buell and developed specifically for the Buell 1125R, although a few components, such as the stator and various fasteners, are used in other BRP-Rotax products." This leads me to presume that the very same stator (and hopefully the rotor) is use by Aprilia or some other Rotax powered recreational machine. The trick is to find which. If we could source a suitable 18 pole stator and rotor from other Rotax applications, the absence of an H-D part number should sharply decrease the cost of an 08 retrofit. Anyone have the resources, or know someone that does, to dig into the BRP-Rotax tech data and see what fits what? |

Can-Am Spyders I went to a local Can-Am dealer and asked to copy pages from their service manual to get the above info. Granted it's only pictures and general description and not data but it's a start. |

http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/garganos/C anam_OEM/canammc.asp?Type=13&A=1&B=19 I picked a 2008 Can Am Spyder, it looks like it is $400 retail for the stator. If I am reading it right, you can get the stator, rotor, and some other goodies for $534. They look the same as the 08 1125R stator, at least as far as I can tell from the crap photocopy. |

Looking at the picture on ebay, the stator itself looks the exact same as the 08 1125 stator, the only difference I can see is the connector. |

That connector looks like the one used on the FH00012A voltage regulator kit. Would be nice to get some measurements on it. |

I was at HD dealer today, laying groundwork for a possible January parts discount to do 08 convert. You can get HD OEM stator & rotor for big twin for $200 total! I can buy a stator for my street triple for $160. This doesn't make any sense.... |

I've got an answer from the seller of Can-Am stator: Inside diameter = 2-1/8" Outside diameter = 4-1/2" Width = 1-1/2" |

I got this from Rotax today I swear same crap every time REDIRECT REDIRECT. I think I am not gonna look at a Rotax next time around!!!!!! Mr. Tweed, Thank you for contacting BRP. In response to your request, in response to your request, we would kindly invite you to contact your authorized BRP dealership for all technical & parts questions. They will be the best ones to help you with your demand. Unfortunately, your request is too technical for us, and we are not trained to answer this type of question here at customer service. The dealers have access to a direct line with the technical department, which will be able to find a solution for the issue on your unit. Roadrash1- the difference in cost is probably partially related to the quantity of units they produce for those applications. There are a lot more big twin Harley's on the road than buell 1125's and can am units. Makes sense if you think about. Like I said in a previous post I picked up really nice used units off people from eBay that sell motorcycle parts for $300 shipped. It takes a little work and requires contacting people but you can find the units for much less than dealership prices if you just take the time. If anyone is interested PM me for the names of the companies I dealt with. |

Crusty, Good points. I also think anything that bolts to a Rotax engine costs a bit more. I had a CCM dirt bike that had a Rotax 605 single. Mine was very bullet proof, but guys I knew that had ATK's with 2-strokes, said routine parts were very expensive. Still, the economy of scale thing makes sense. |

Also consider that the aftermarket has not given us an alternative to buying from HD. Every Harley I've had burned up the stator in under 30,000 miles. Accel provided a better product for less money so HD had to keep their price reasonable. |

Doesn't Aprilia use Rotax engines in some models? There might be another avenue. |

My dad has a spyder. I don't think he'd be too happy if I ripped out his stator. But I could probably pull off the side panel and see if the stator cover is similar. |
