Has the factory done anything to fix the stator issue yet? what is the latest news? Does HD even recognize the issue yet? EZ |

Of course they know the issue. Granted the harness/relay shutting off one leg at certain times is not the best solution but it raises the possibility of other types of electrical solutions to make the existing 530 watt system survive. For instance I've been kicking around the idea of removing the harness/relay and adding a 2 ohm "ballast resistor" like what was used on older cars with points ignitions to each phase between the stator and VR. The idea is to reduce the overall current the stator produces by cutting down the current on each phase a little rather than shutting off one leg which keeps the other two legs going at max output generating heat in an area with too little cooling oil. It might work. Preliminary testing with one leg looks promising. |

At least that's what I was told as well, as already repeated in another thread - however, I was also told that even at dealer cost price that that was a pricey part that wowed them - lol - so - Just had mine installed with the new above part number stator, 5 day turn around for a stator is good in my book, especially for a Buell problem part, so except for start up - which is 12.7 and slowly climbing - around 2 minutes - then the bike stayed between 13.5 and 13.7 - fine by my book - we'll see. Sure acts like a new part, never charged that well before - leaving the stock ignition in for a week to chart changes, and see if the numbers stay as happy in the Racing Ignition swap, where the motor runs better.
